Dr. Laura Kelly Sanders, MD

I visited Dr, Sanders for a thorough checkup of my eyes before getting a new prescription for eye glasses, She was friendly and professional . Knowledgeable and told me everything which was going on in my eyes at the time of exam.

I saw her because she was the only doctor that accepted my insurance at this practice. She was not focused on the examination at all. She was more interested in her computer not working. She looked at my eyes briefly and told me she would she me in a year. I don’t think so! So, I reminded her that I need a new eye glass prescription. She said “oh “ . She proceeded to exam my eyes. When I picked up the glasses, it was obvious that the prescription was wrong. Another doctor rechecked me. Sure enough, it was way off. Avoid her!

I got referred to Dr. Sanders for a lesion on my the waterline of my eye. While I cannot speak of her surgical excellence, I can say that I was very disappointed in her bedside manner. She wanted to remove the growth that day saying there may be an indentation and I may be a bit black and blue or I could do it in the OR. As someone who is anxious about needles and lasers going so close to my eye I was a bit distraught by the procedure details. She left and had one of the nurses check in on my decision. It was the nurse told me to see another doctor for a second opinion to be sure. I had the surgery done elsewhere because Dr. Sanders made everything seem very rushed. She is very straight forward but not very warm. I just did not get the feeling of trust or compassion from her, which is essential when you're getting anything cut open. Again, I'm sure she is a fine surgeon, but she did not put me at ease like the doctor I opted for. If you feel any doubt always do a second opinion… and don't rush into things.
