Dr. Laurie Fay Draughon, MD

Can't say enough good things about her. We love her. The only bad thing is that she is not taking new patients right now and we have a few referrals for her.

Makes house calls for patients that can't get to the doctor or refuse to go. She is an excellent diagnostician and a very caring, down to earth, person. She spends much time with the family and patient, and works well with them. I would recommend her highly.

You can't get a better doctor than Dr. Draughon. She is so good at diagnosing and treating, she really listens, and she comes to your home. In addition, she is amazingly kind, caring, and personable. She saved us many trips to the E.R. with a bed-bound elderly man I took care of. Incredibly, when he began dying on Christmas Day, she actually came over. I just can't say enough good about her... you would be so lucky to have her as your doctor.

Dr. Draughon is a great doctor, probably the best I've ever seen. She always takes the time to understand my concerns and explain things in terms my family and I can easily understand so that we can participate as effectively as possible in our own care. I would highly recommend her for you or a family member.

Dr. Draughon is a very caring, knowledgable professional. She helped my mother with her end of life issues and was always there for the family. Her practice has limits because it is a solo practice in which she does everything, so is unable to accommodate the needs of some people. She is professional enough to recognize that, and will terminate the relationship, even if it results in bad reviews.

Dr. Draughon is a nice person and is knowledgeable in many areas. Three things made working with her impossible: 1) her difficulty working with (i.e., valuing) family members inputs, 2) her belief/approach that her patient doesn't need the input of specialists and 3) she left an elderly patient suddenly without transitioning to a new primary care doctor which demonstrated a lack of both professionalism and genuine caring.

Hired as a concierge primary care physician for an elderly family member with multiple medical issues and multiple ongoing specialists. The physician was paid privately for this service, including for at-home visits. She was available through email for consultations with family members and visited the patient regularly. She was very helpful in coordinating in-hospital care for the patient when she took a fall. But the physician often seemed uncomfortable with her role, including during visits to the patient. Did not want to work with specialists or want family members to consult with or take the patient to long-time specialists. Misdiagnosed or mistreated two conditions. Became irritated when family members consulted the specialists when her recommended treatments were not improving these medical conditions, and in fact one recommendation worsened the condition and another one would have been an improper and possibly dangerous treatment. When sought out by the family, the… specialists' guidance then properly addressed the conditions. Criticized family members for consulting the specialists and quit on short notice. A concierge practice is probably not the right role for this physician.
