Dr. Laurie J Smith, PhD

I would not recommend for marriage or family counseling. Overall, she did not seem pro-relationship; she would push for divorce or breaking up as the top solution and seemed too focused on the other individual’s needs rather than us as a couple. Even more harmful was her tendency to favor one partner over the other. She was often culturally insensitive and blatantly dismissive to the point it felt disrespectful.

Dr. Smith is extremely experienced. She has been incredibly aware of problems in my life that I was not aware of. She has become my advocate for self care, my teacher, and my healer.

If I could give no stars, I would. This therapist is borderline incompetent. She saw my minor child for more than a year. Ignored my child's serious concerns and did not report them to us despite my attempts on many occasions to reach out and inquire about their well-being. As a result, my child experienced a worsening of symptoms and lost precious time treating them. I would not recommend this therapist under any circumstances.
