In full disclosure, Dr. Rhein was my son's pulmonologist at Boston Children's Hospital for many years and I was absolutely crushed when he left. He literally saved my son's life. When my son was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer at another facility and we were told he should be put on hospice. I called Dr. Rhein for guidance. He was at his brother's wedding when the service paged him. He immediately called me back from the wedding, and arranged for a transport team to move my son to Boston and then connected us with a wonderful oncology and transplant team in Boston. He is simply amazing. He's caring, he listen's to concerns and addresses them accordingly. I cannot thank him enough. My son is now 18 and cancer free. He is also completely stable from a pulmonary standpoint as well!

I've never met a doctor like Dr. Rhein. Not only is he extremely intelligent and knowledgeable, he also cares deeply about his patients' lives. He sees our son in the CHILD clinic, where he has developed a plan that got our very fragile son off of oxygen. But he never sees our son as just his illness; instead, he cares about his whole life and our family. Examples: Dr. Rhein runs a monthly music class so his vulnerable patients can have fun and developmentally appropriate experiences while staying safe from germs. He raised the funds to purchase a portable concentrator so his oxygen dependent patients can travel. He makes himself constantly available to discuss respiratory or other concerns his patients' parents might have. He is engaging, caring, and easy to talk to. A model for all other physicians.
