I was a patient at Overlook Hospital and had the misfortune of having this doctor as my hospitalist. She was a nightmare - never did anything to help me as a patient. Why would this hospital give her such a responsible position? She sent me home without going thru the required steps to see if I should be allowed to leave. If you ever have her as your hospitalist run for your life.

I also had seen Dr Kopelan in the hospital. She was very short with me, didnt answer questions and gave me the wrong medication.

My wife was admitted to the ER of Overlook last week. She has been suffering with a lot of pain in the abdomin for 3 years. After a stay at Overlook the week prior, she was told to come back by another Dr if she had the symptoms come back. She was admitted at around 11pm. Dr. Kopelan (who has never met my wife, isn't her treating physician) came down to the ER to see her at around 11am the next day. She yelled at the nurse who gave my wife standing orders of pain meds that she didn't gave all night. Then yelled at my wife flat out accusing her if pain med seeking. It seems as though she didn't even bother looking at her chart. My wife was in tears and her pain became worse due to this event. I have never, in the 3 years that our family has been in and out if the hospital, seen a doctor who was so terrible. When i said i would be filing a compkaint against her, she said "go ahead. i dont care". This exhibited to me such a lack of respect for her patients as well as her profession. This… is her quote from the medical group she is a part of: Dr. Kopelan says, "Hospitalist Medicine inspires me because it allows me to interact with and learn from my colleagues in many specialties. During their hospital stay, patients are at their most vulnerable. I find it gratifying to help them when they need help the most." I wish my wife had the type of doctor who believed in that statement as opposed to what we actually received with Dr.Kopelan.
