Dr. Lee Smith Carson

Dr. Carson spent less than five minutes in the room with me, most of that looking away. She completely dismissed the reason my doctor wanted me to be checked out, asked curt questions but then constantly interrupted, and blurted out that she would never put me on a medication I'm currently taking (without ever asking about the process my previous derm and I went through to find a med that worked) but didn't offer another solution. Her explanation for my skin phenomenon included telling me that "if I looked hard enough" I'd probably see some of the same issues on her skin, like that would be proof it was normal or something. She did offer a new medication for an excema flair, which still hasn't arrived three weeks later. While all this was happening, her wonderful CMA was looking so embarrassed and apologetic that I actually felt bad for her. Overall, my experience with Dr. Carson was degrading and, I'm embarrassed to say, that by the end of my brief time with her I had completely… given up on trying to be an active participant in my own healthcare and sat quietly nodding to get out of the appointment as soon as I could. I've already cancelled my follow up and will not be seeking any further services from this practice. Dr. Carson is the epitome of what is wrong with American healthcare.

She was very rushed when we met and then for my follow up visit - brushed me off to her hard(er) working PA. This is a Dr who clearly did not care about me! Check out Dollars for Docs website and look her up!

Very positive experience all the way around

Terrible first (and last) experience! Over 1hr in office, when my previous provider (other state) got the job done (better) in 20 mins. Freezing in the exam room and only a square of paper to cover myself with (can't spring for real "paper robes"?). Staff is borderline rude, especially if you dare to ask why they forgot you in the room for 15min. Won't print a receipt. They act as though you bothered them. The dr. barely spent 3 mins bedside, seems more interested in selling "beauty" products and was very fast (at least here!) looking me over (probably did not want to keep another "customer" waiting ;) Even advised me to ask my hairdresser to check my scalp when she barely did so ( maybe I should pay her what a hairdresser makes, and raise my hairdresser's income?).

It was extremely easy to make an appointment here. The receptionist and billing coordinator were very nice and easy to work with, however, I will never recommend anyone to go to this office. Dr. Carson never introduced herself to me, she didn't wash her hands and she spent all of five minutes with me. Please keep in mind that I was here for my first dermatological appointment in over 15 years, so I needed a full, comprehensive view of my skin ailments. She talked so fast and was in such a rush, I only had a chance to ask her one question. She really didn't diagnose me with anything so I have no idea what conditions she thinks I might have. She just prescribed three different medications for me and I was skeptical about getting them. She is extremely curt and has no bedside manners. I'm sorry, but I am booking an appointment elsewhere where I feel someone can really take the time to treat my skin conditions and really do a thorough examination. It appears she was only interested in my… follow-up appointment, however, as you can see, I won't be back.

How can anyone like this be in business and remain in business. This lady was the most awful doctor I've had to deal with. It was obviously that she had not read any part of my record by the questions she ask me; she glanced at my leg and made an assessment ; I had to ask what are the diagnosis, if it would heal or if it was forever and she told me to Google it; she prescribed medicine and didn't explain its purpose; and told me to choose another pharmacy besides Ft Jackson because they are limited. Total time spent with me 3-5 minutes. Had I not asked any questions she would have been out the door. The nicest person there I encountered was the receptionist. I will not go to my follow-up.

I have palmar/plantar psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis - I had seen 2 dermatologists before Dr. Carson -- Finally, I have found a doctor that is responsive, willing to explain things and aggressively will treat this painful ugly disease. Thist time in 3 years that I feel I am being treated and that my doctor is not just trying to pacify me. In addition, her nurse was excellent.

Don't waste your time. Wasn't seen until an hr or more after my scheduled appointment b/c I was told I needed a referral (which they already had & showed me) then I was told I was responsible for getting "authorization number" from my insurance company. What?! That's your job. Then it was explained, really nastily, that I had 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment to get it or I would have to reschedule. I had been dealing with my skin issues for over a month a desperately needed this appointment. It didn't matter to them at all. An hr later, the number was in hand and I finally saw the Dr. for all of 5 minutes. She was very impersonal and an hurry. I got chance ask one question as she was on her way out the door.Even then, she told me to read the paper she was giving me tootake home.

This was by far my worst experience with a Md. My son was seen only once by this doctor then further visits with her PA. Who diagnosed my son who had sever eczema with ringworm and had treated him for a month with an oral antibiotic. After month of treatment upon follow up I stated symptoms were no better but visit was so short I asked the nurse the diagnosis and she wrote on a piece of paper. When I got home and looked it up it was ringworm. When I called backed for clarification and how it was I hadn't contracted such an contagious disease since I slept with the 2 year old. I was placed on hold and the nurse returned and said since I was an adult I couldn't get it! WHAT?
