Dr. Lee Heery, MD

Dr. Heery is wonderful. She obviously loves kids and give them respect and all her attention.

My then 18 month old daughter was having breathing problems at night. She has had asthma since she was 8 months old but I knew that this was a bigger problem. I told the doctor that it sounded like she would stop breathing and her rythm was completely off. She proceeded to tell me that she would like to treat for allergies. I took her advice (since I'm not a Doctor and I trusted she would know what she was talking about) and tried that for about 2 months...it was only getting worse. I would sleep by her bed to make sure I could wake her up to so that she would START breathing normally again. I took her back and told her what I was seeing and that it was scaring me. She proceeded to give my daughter a liquid steroid and told me that with asthma a cold can cause serious difficulty and she wanted to try and "strengthen" her lungs. I just want to add in there that BOTH of those times Dr. Heery did NOT check her airways. I even had mentioned that it seemed like her tonsils were really big.… By this time I was growing SERIOUSLY concerned. My daughter had blue rings under her eyes from lack of sleep, you could tell she was "sick". My husband and I decided to take her to a ENT without a referral. My daughter was about 22 months old (four months of trusting Dr. Heery) when the ENT opened her mouth and immediately recomended surgery no later than 2 days from that day. She said she had obstructive sleep apnea and that her tonsils were blocking her airway when she layed down. My daughter could have permanantly stopped breathing had her body not woken itself up to start breathing again. NEVER did I think a doctor would mislead us so BADLY. I'm only thankful that my motherly instincts kicked in to bypass her refferal and seek the opinion of a specialist. She could have at least checked her airways (especially her throat) when I told her about breathing problems. Some of the ratings (appointment time, staff, ease of getting an appointment) could have gotten 3 stars, but I wanted to draw attention to this Dr.'s inept ability to notice warning signs of a potentially deadly condition. My daughter had a tonsilectemy and has been fine ever since...Dr. Heery FAILED to use what I had of common sense to have her airways checked out by an ENT. And she is the licensed one...
