Dr. Lewis Wetstein, MD

Got a bill for a procedure done on my mother who ended up dying 5 days later. Outrageous bill sent out of nowhere and summons to court for non payment. Looks like he does this with every single patient. Tried to call him direct but only in office 4 hours a week and never called back. After hours of wasted time and months of back and forth the Insurance company said the Doc never sent in the proper forms to be reimbursed by the insurance company. So the reason he didn't get paid was his fault. I'm sure he does this because he can charge someone off the street $20,000 but someone with insurance he will only get reimbursed $2000 by the carrier. So why go through the insurance company when there's a chance he can hit the jackpot? If someone has the money they may think that's a "normal" bill and pay him. One of the many insurance people I talked to said "oh, yeah, we know this guy--he does this all the time" $8,000 he was looking for got knocked down to $800 by the insurance… company. I think he does this just hoping people will pay the bills. How is this not against the law?

Dr Wetstein was called in by my primary doctor for an emergency situation. At that time he accepted the case and was fully aware of my insurance. After the surgery he sent an outrageous bill so I contacted my insurance and they assured me the doctor was paid in full. Needless to say I kept getting bills from the doctor and always called my insurance carrier who emphatically told me not to pay any bills. Now the doctor is suing me and I had to get a lawyer. The case is still not settled but after checking on the doctors complaints I saw that I am one of many he has done this to and for some reason when the cases go to court judgement has been in his favor. Can it be possible that he and the judge have some sort of money agreement. Others it seems have been thinking the very same thing. How does dr Wetstein get away with this in hundreds of cases. Someone has to stop this so called doctor...and maybe even investigate judge James W. Palmer

Giving this physician 1-star, is a compliment. After being misdiagnosed at Jersey Shore hospital with a collapsed lung, I was called back by the attending physician. She advised me that my scans were read wrong, and I would need to come back for an emergency chest tube. She then informed me that Dr. Wetstein was on call at the time, 2 am, and he would be performing my procedure. Dr. Wetstein explained to my mom and I that I had blebs in my lungs, along with a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and he would have to do two procedures. One to remove the cysts. One to reflate my lung. After a long agonizing procedure deflating my lung, he told my mom he was going to now fix the blebs. She would not let this happen, because the radiologist who found my pneumothorax mentioned nothing about it. The following morning, Dr. Wetstein came to “check on me”. He failed to look at my wound, drainage or any part of me. He did not even touch me. He was just insistent on the fact that he had to remove my… “blebs”. After firing him from my case, a pulmonologist came in to examine me. He informed me that I did not, and never did have blebs. He would have performed an unnecessary procedure to open me up. Doctor after doctor told me that this man should not have a medical license. He left me with a wound that looked like a gun shot. Do not let him near your family! This man is horrible! He should not be a medical professional. Save yourself / your family the PTSD

Wetstein said I didn't need a procedure. Afterward, I had more issues and ended up going to a better dr and was told I needed that procedure. Wetstein sued me for doing paperwork that most likely took 10 mins canceling my procedure. The amount he charged makes me think he makes 10 million dollars a year. In court, I set up a bill payment plan because I couldn't afford his bill. He ends up charging me half the price I pay a month agreed upon as interest which wasn't agreed upon. Don't trust the mediator in court he doesn't care about you and doesn't want you to win because Wetstein has him in his pockets. Wetstein said after I paid him he would submit the bill to Medicare and never did so. I suspect this dr is treating people bad late in his career. I don't understand why a dr could practice medicine for this long unless he was going to retire soon. He has no care in the world for his patients. Please submit your bad experiences to the medical board.

My Mom went to Community Medical Center for a stroke she had where she met Wetstein. Wetstein came in for around 3 minutes to tell my mom that she needed a loop recorder. Wetstein ordered she should not eat the day of surgery. The next day Wetstein came in at 5pm for around 3 minutes to say she didn't need the surgery because the other doctor told him so. She has diabetes and went 14 hours total without eating. She had no insulin the day of surgery and her sugar ended up going too high. We ended up getting a bill for $1,000 for which he claims he had to fill out paperwork and look over reports. We thought the bill wasn't appropriate and didn't have the money to pay it otherwise. He was out of network from Blue Cross Blue Shield and I have no idea why he was allowed to come in to visit my mom in the first place. He ends up suing us along with others the day of court and he won. Other reviewers on other websites have similar experiences to ours. He pushes unneeded surgeries that he most… likely knows you don't need trying to get money. Wetstein is unprofessional, doesn't have a care in the world, and is greedy, he will do anything to get more money. I can't believe he is still licensed and is a Dr, after everyone's experience with him. He's the type of guy that would see a homeless person drop $5 and take it. Stay far away from this guy, refuse his care and ask for someone else to treat you. If you have been treated by Wetstein and have a similar experience with ours or other reviewers on other websites please file a complaint and report him for fraud. Let's bring an end to his malpractices, we need numerous reports to do so. I'm sure he can also be sued for the scams he is doing and wouldn't be able to practice medicine any longer if we all came together.

No bedside manner . greedy dr who is known to sue people for his disgusting care. treats people like animal . rude .

Admitted to the ER Wetstein was consulted for a possible pneumothorax. Pulmonary reviewed a chest xray showing it resolved. Despite this fact he charges my father for that visit and a follow up visit. He was never treated. Within a week a bill was sent for services not performed, one month later sent to collections, one month later sued! Disgusting, greedy, and unprofessional. He got his money which is obviously his only concern.

Do Not EVER, EVER let this doctor (if that's what he can be called) touch you or your loved ones. I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy.

Aggressive, Rude, Arrogant, Incompetent. Let's put aside his total lack of bedside manner.... Could easily overlook the fact that he is the biggest AH on the face of the earth, if he actually knew what he was doing. Botched Procedure. Pushed Unnecessary Surgery. Will laugh when he tries to collect. Would never honor him with the prefix Dr. MALPRACTICE, MALPRACTICE, MALPRACTICE. We are the checks and balances......This man needs to be removed from the profession IMMEDIATELY!

Inerested in pushing an extra proceedure, mentioned it four times, rude to nurese and wanted to keep me in hospital extra night, I had no confidence in him, not professional, all other reviews came true
