Dr. Linda Alison Hillier, DO

If you are not onboard with unnecessary statin drugs that have a long list of negative side effects including diabetes, then don't go to her. My first (and last) appointment with her only lasted two minutes. When I told her that I won't take statin drugs and asked if there were any natural alternatives she could suggest, she ended the meeting saying that we were not on the same page. What really concerns me is that she wasn't open to hearing my reasoning. I didn't even finish telling her that when I had my heart attach 31 years ago, my cholesterol was alarmingly low because I was on what was then the popular low fat and high carb diet and that after my surgery, and still today, I eat four eggs fried in ghee daily and eat red grass fed beef at least four times a week. So at 62, if I made it without statins for 31 years, I am not gonna start now. I'd rather die naturally than take statin drugs and risk getting diabetes.

When I was referred to Dr. Hillier, I was told she was smart, and now after a few visits, I think the referrer was correct. Interacting with her, however, is like interacting with a computer. She sits at her little computer table, asks you questions, and records your answers. She never even looks at you. As an internist, I expected her to be concerned with the health of my whole body [interacting systems and all....] but she seems perfectly content to refer to you specialists and then forget that you ever had that issue that required another doctor's expertise. She always seems to be in a hurry, too. I now need to make a separate appointment just to discuss the results of a test that was done months ago because she couldn't squeeze in 3 minutes to go over it during our last appointment. When she does share her recommended course of action, she doesn't give her reasons for it; she just leaves the room. If she wasn't smart and aggressive about treatment, I'd happily switch… doctors. Right now, I feel like she is just my medical "traffic cop," and wouldn't even recognize me if I bumped into her on the street.

Dr. Hillier is an excellent physician. I find these negative reviews completely untrue and would consider the source in who wrote those. Especially the one who did not even see her as a patient, but was rather having issues with her own insurance company! She has the best bedside manner and listens attentively to my complaints. She has great follow up and has helped me with my medical conditon for the past 6 years. I finally feel extremely healthy and knowledgable about my disease process! Thanks to Dr. Hillier

Dr. Hillier is by far the best doctor I have ever experienced. She is thorough, listens, and makes referrals when appropriate. She asks questions and does not throw prescriptions at you without trying to find other ways to treat your issue. i have many other doctors. The only one who ever came close was my orthopedic surgeon who treated me for polio. He no longer practices, but Dr Hillier does.

My bad experience is not directly as a result of my encounter with Dr. Linda Hillier, since she didn't even give me that chance, but rather as a result of her greed, unprofessionalism along with her staff, and possibly foul play involved to skip an inconvenient insurance process and rip me off. I didn't choose to see Dr. Hillier in particular but she was one of the doctors I was suggested by my neurologist for having some blood work, and it turned out that she was in the list of PCP's covered by my insurance. There wouldn't have been much consultation with Dr. Hillier and not much time taken out of her schedule since all that needed to be done was on file. It was only routine and I didn't need her opinion about anything. I called to schedule an appointment and gave the receptionist my insurance information. She called them and got back to me verifying that my insurance "is NOT Obamacare" which the doctor does not take and that it will cover my visit with Dr. Hillier. I made the… necessary arrangements to make that appointment and went the next day. After having filled out the paperwork, handing my insurance card, and waiting there for about 20 mins, the receptionist told me my insurance does not cover for doctor's visits. What?!! I was standing there dumbfounded asking her to reconsider and check again, reminding her that she's contradicting herself from the day before, and insisting that the doctor's name is in the list of doctors covered. They were kind of aloof, but after having to insist, called some number (which I later found out was the wrong one) and talked with a rep (whose side I didn't hear) right in front of me and again persisted that I'm not covered for any doctor's visits. While she hung up, I considered the possibility that the doctor's name being in their list was some kind of error. I asked if I could still see Dr. Hillier anyways and how much I would be billed, and after checking with the doctor, her reply was that it was going to be $295!!! (three times the average) that should be paid right away, with no payment plan provided. Nice way to cash in on patients! I was furious, said there's no way I will pay that, and left. I came back home impatient to call my insurance and rant about their misrepresentations and their poor coverage. The rep I talked to insisted that Dr. Hillier is under coverage and I should have at least been informed there will be a discount of 50-60% off of the bill, with a bill sent for the rest of the balance, later. She persisted that the receptionist did not call the right number, otherwise they would've been told the same. I told the rep to call the doctor's office and get back to me, since I'm being stuck in the middle of a he said she said situation. After hours of trying and getting a hold of them (apparently they weren't answering at first), the rep called and confirmed that her statements were indeed true, and asked that I get back with Nicole from the doctor's office to set up for another appointment which would be covered. They didn't even have the courtesy to call me back and apologize or set up for a new proper appointment with no ripoffs. Of course, after having that bad experience, I chose to go with another PCP and made another appointment. The process was smooth and straightforward. So the staff was unprofessional and inconsistent to say the least, and possibly dishonest and deceptive in attempt to skip a process with claims and billing. To think that I could've been corned to pay this ridiculous amount imposed by a greedy practice is outrageous. Beware of being taken advantage of.

I really enjoy seeing Dr. Linda Hillier, and think she's one of the most attentive doctors I've ever been to. Her manner is fantastic and she always remembers me. Unfortunately, I have found that the staff at the practice is disorganized and have poor communication skills. I've dropped off paperwork for Dr. Hillier to sign and had to wait a month for the paperwork to finally be presented to her, despite numerous calls and even visiting the office in person to remind them. Good doctor overall, but her staff is totally out to lunch.
