Dr. Lisa Hannah Markman, MD

Dr. Markman was rude and dismissive to my symptoms blaming it all on personal failure. It wasn't until I went to a different endocrinologist that I actually received care and we started a treatment plan that my symptoms were treated. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

I find her to be thorough and professional. That's what I'm looking for in a doctor.

I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Markman. I am a type 2 diabetic, diagnosed about 20 years ago. I left my old endocrinologist after 10 years due to the rudeness of his staff. Well, from the moment I entered the Westmed facility I felt like the most important person in the world. The staff, the nurse, everybody was kind, courteous and thorough. Then when I met Dr. M it was the icing on the cake. She thoroughly reviewed my condition and my treatment regimen. She made a few changes and explained everything to me in plain English. Then she followed up with emails to make sure I got what I needed. I feel like I made one of the best decisions of my life to become a patient of this kind, caring, compassionate caregiver.

I had half of my thyroid removed in 2013. Dr. Mark man was my endocrinologist, and before my surgery she was attentive and helpful. However, when I went back to her and my internist two years later with concerns about a sudden weight gain of ten pounds, while my internist felt it was advisable to begin synthroid, Markman was dismissive. She blamed my weight gain and symptoms on peri menopause (I was only 44 at the time, and my present endocrinologist confirmed that 44 was early for peri menopause). She basically told me even starting synthroid was a waste of time. She made me feel terrible, and, more importantly, her inaction led me to gain twenty five more pounds over the next three years. When I finally returned to a new endocrinologist, having avoided seeing one like the plague thanks to Markman’s manner, I was found to be moving towards hypothyroidism and eventually moved to a dosage of 75 mg of synthroid. My internist put me on weight loss medication and the combination has… allowed me to be more than halfway into losing the weight I had gained. However, for the rest of my life, I will attribute Dr. Markman’s condescension, inaction, and overall crappy performance to five rather unnecessarily miserable years.

Dr. Markman has helped me beat diabetes, improve my overall health, strengthen my bones, and avoid thyroid surgery. I cannot adequately praise her care. She listens, she is willing to let the patient try more holistic approaches, she praises progress, and she's on the cutting edge of genetic-based testing. Because she used a gene-based test for my thyroid condition, she was the only physician to not demand thyroid removal. I was able to keep my thyroid, and it is healthy despite a small growth. My once-out-of-control diabetes 2 is under control because of my strenuous efforts to change diet and add more movement. She is really good at prescribing -- never excessive, always on point. I don't understand her low rating here. It simply doesn't match the peerless care I received over nearly a decade.

A sad excuse for a doctor. Nuff said.

Dr. Markman has got to be the worst practitioner I have ever seen. Terrible bedside manner. she was rude, abrasive and cut me off constantly while I was explaining my symptoms. Don't waste your time. I found an endocrinologist through Cornell that was amazing and I am on my way to a happier healthier ME!

I recently begun seeing Dr. Markman after I desperately needed a second opinion. Dr. Markman has been thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and inspires confidence in me that the correct diagnosis will be made. I am also impressed by the amount of time she spends with the patient as well as her no-nonsense but well meaning bedside manner. I'm impressed with Dr. Markman so far.

She is an excellent doctor, and good looking besides.
