Dr. Ellis is a hospitalist and the community preceptor for Samaritan’s rural residency program based at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. Since beginning his training in rural Appalachia, it was his goal to return to a small community to practice medicine. He found Newport to be a place where the work feels personal and a strong tradition of neighbors helping neighbors is deeply rooted. Dr. Ellis was a collegiate golfer during his undergraduate years at Catawba College. In his free time, Dr. Ellis enjoys foraging for mushrooms, fishing and snowboarding.
