Dr. Lorna Honan

Dr. Honan has gone above and beyond to provide care for me and my family. When we have questions, she takes her time to explain and reassure- always going above and beyond when needed! She is easy to talk to and clearly cares deeply about her patients, myself included. In a world where it can be difficult to find empathetic, patient-centered care, look no further than Dr. Honan!!

I went in and had blood drawn, with concern for a huge weight loss out of nowhere. Dr. Honan is easy enough to talk to, not necessarily very friendly, and she didn't know anything up to date about Anemia treatment or Anemia causes... I chose her as my Dr. based on her years of experience, but was left disappointed that she didn't continue her education in such a basic area as Anemia, or who knows what else. She also didn't know about other treatments or other types of iron that could be taken. I told her I wanted to find out the REASON for my anemia at both of my visits, and she reassured me that we would find out after my blood test... and she just ended up sending me to buy iron...which I also told her that traditional iron makes me sick... but she did not offer any alternatives, just prescribed run of the mill, over the counter iron, and never addressed the REASON for my deficiency. I even requested a referral for a hematologist from her office and it was made impossible by the… staff and because the Dr. didn't understand my purpose for going to a blood pathologist... she just had her staff call me and try to set up yet another blood draw the next week and ask why I needed a referral... because I wanted to find out the cause for my anemia, not just treat it and that is what I told her during both appointments I visited her for. Even after the 2nd seemingly useless blood draw, she didn't address the reason for my anemia even when asked... at this point it seemed like she just wanted me to come back and have blood drawn and redrawn for the payday, but didn't consult my patient record for what I was looking for. Also, she mentioned that one of my other numbers was "off" from my blood tests, but stated that "we will talk about that later". I wanted to know about it, but she never even mentioned what the issue was so that I could ask later and when I called her staff and asked, they were clueless. So since I knew more about my anemia than her... and my weight loss issue was never even addressed by her...I've decided to find another Dr. that may keep up on treatments and actually answer the questions patient's reasons for visiting. I see on Google that she has 1 five star rating... and I didn't want to leave a review there because it would put my full name.

Dr. Honan was recommended by a friend who had an advanced degree in medical technology. I found Dr Honan to be very caring and warm while also professional. I would not hesitate to refer my family and friends to Dr. Honan.

About three years ago, I became extremely ill quite literally overnight. We thought it was food poisoning, until more than a week had gone by and I wasn't even holding water down still. I spent time in the ER, spent a little time in the hospital, and when I went to see my PC provider, Dr. Honan happened to be filling in. She is the only doctor that didn't look at me, shrug her shoulders, and tell me they don't know and basically push me out the door. Dr. Honan was bound and determined to help me, and she did. She quite literally saved my life because she refused to give up and push me off onto another doctor. I likely would not be here today without her. I am facing another difficult health situation now three years later and Dr. Honan was the person I sought out as my PC physician under my new insurance because I truly do trust her with my life and I can count on her not to give up when others would and others have.
