Dr. Lorraine Kay Neilson, DO

Very disappointed in Dr. Neilson who treated my mother at Pardee this past week. My mother can't eat without vomiting. That's why she was there. She's 78 and on Medicaid because she lives at the Brian Center. Dr. Neilson told me a feeding tube would not extend her life nor improve it. She also told me an endoscopy was too invasive at her age. And lastly, the big lie, that my mother had stopped vomiting. I went up yesterday to feed her and she vomited after two bites. I reported it to the nurse but then Mom was released this morning back to Brian Center. Not only am I disgusted with Dr. Neilson, but also Pardee Hospital. I plan to contact the administration there.

Do not leave your loved one. In her care. She is rude, crude, and very unprofessional. Never wears lab coat or name tag and brings her purse in and out of patient rooms. Extremely condescending to family and patient. Took her five hours to come see my son from the time nurses started calling her. Then she ordered the wrong med which even the nurses agreed would have dome much harm had they given it . This person needs more education in how to talk to patients as well as how to care for them medically. Better yet she needs to. Chose another profession. Do Not let her care for your loved one!!!!

Dr. Neilson is one of the most caring and compassionate physicians I have ever encountered. She treated my Mother with caring and concern during a very scary and difficult time. She took all the time we needed to make sure we had all the information. She was clear and objective about the issues and outcomes while showing empathy for both her patient and the family. She followed up and met all our needs. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she is as a person and a physician.

Best doctor we have ever meet in our combined lives.

Everything you read in all the reviews on this site are spot on. She is a condescending know-it-all that has no common courtesy, no bedside manner, and mistreats and misdiagnoses. Made sure she repeated all the letters after her name and her education levels and personal experiences with sickness. Talked to me in front of my ailing father about death and ending his suffering. I expressed his wishes to her and it made her mad. She relentlessly had people coming to talk to him about giving up on a daily basis, and had just told us he would be there a while to get him eating and rehab him. The next time she called was to notify me he was being discharged. Finally got her wish much to my and my family's disagreement and begged her to get another doctor's opinion, but just got very personal and told me of how she "KNOWS hardship and pain just listen to what I had to go through!" and argued with me about his condition. I asked her if she had seen my dad at all and if she paid attention when… she did. She replied screaming, "YES, HE LOOKS LIKE A DEAD MAN!" Then, Discharged him and during her explanation, said that he was medically stable and Medicare wouldn't pay for him to "just lay up here" and after submitting to her wishes, my father died in less than 48 hours. If you value the life of yourself or a loved one, don't let this "PHD, Masters Degree with honors, well respected" *&%# get near you or them. Can't give a zero on her ratings, so she gets a one. Can't see how in the world she is still practicing with the way she talked to me and my family, and will do anything I can to keep her from letting anyone else die under her care. My father weighed 88 lbs, had replacement parts all over his heart, had a stomach tube for feeding, had minimal use of his left side from a stroke, had a trach tube, had spent 2 months in a specialty hospital for lung infection, had beaten all that and was recovering, but was too weak to talk and defend himself. She explained "I think I've done a very good job setting a plan for him." The doctor at the nursing facility he was released to was immediately skeptical and called us to explain her plan was farfetched at best. My father's death after one night proved that.

Rude, abrupt, thinks she knows everything, and doesn't want to hear anything. Totally misdiagnosed my condition in the hospital, I got worse, ended up in the ICU, thank goodness another doctor on duty was there at night to examine me and figure out what was going on.

Saw her in ER. Rude & condescending. Misdiagnosed, medicated with medicines she specifically instructed me not to take. Given medications that had nothing to do with my condition. I was seen few days later by another MD. He asked why Dr. Neilson did NOT perform paracentesis while I was in hospital. I had asked Dr. Neilson about procedure, she felt I did not need it. New MD sent me straight from his office to another hospital, to have procedure done immediately.If I ever saw her in an ER again, I would run or crawl in the opposite direction.

Beware of this "doctor". BEWARE!!!!! If you DO decide to see her, make sure your life insurance policy is up to date, your will is filled out, and your burial plans are in order.
