Dr. Louis J Butera, DO

Was asked by my PCP to schedule a consultation with neurologist and so I called this office because I had been there before. When the young lady asked what I was scheduling for, I told her my symptoms. Her ill informed reply to me was "we don't have any doctors here that could help you with that because it is inside your mouth." So I explained that my PCP feels the symptoms have to do with nerve endings in my jaw....she responded with the same answer. Refused to leave a message or schedule an appointment for me. I have worked for an intern for 22 years and would NEVER refuse a patient without speaking to the physician first. Very unprofessional and unaccommodating.

I do not trust Dr. Butera. I was referred by my PCP who suspected I had Multiple Sclerosis. Dr Butera did an MRI, and a brief, half hearted physical exam. He told me I don't have MS, and despite my being a fit Gymnastics coach, he offered the suggestion that my severe fatigue (and myriad of other symptoms) was simply due to having 6 children. He also asked "have you seen a psychiatrist" when he couldn't determine the cause of my issues. I left in tears. After suffering 2 more years, and avoiding Drs for fear of further mistreatment, I diagnosed MYSELF with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), and even the specific type (hyperadrenergic), and found a neurologist knowledgeable of this type of dysautonomia (it's a dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system) which wreaks havoc on the entire body. It's associated another illness I correctly diagnosed myself with - Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which causes (among many other things) genetically loose ligaments, and is the… cause for my constant muscle pain (I can no longer coach). Both the neurology dept and neck and spine dept at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL was spectacular, and has the proper equipment and experience to diagnose even lesser-known illnesses like mine. I highly recommend them. Please remember, YOU know your body best. You are your best advocate. Never stop searching for answers until you get them. If a Dr won't help, remember he works for you, and you can FIRE him!

Have seen Dt b. one time and Was. very impressed HAVE BEEN TO OTHER DOCTORS in his field. He took more time than the others and asked a lot more questions, even sent me to a memory specialist. he ALSO GAVE ME A script, that has helped me. definitely going back for more help, I know he can't fix dead brain cells but maybe some other medication help.

My appointments with Dr Butera are nothing less than GREAT. He takes the time to listen and answer my questions in a way I can understand clearly. I would recommend him to anyone needing neurology services.
