Dr. Luz Paulina Angel, MD

Had a colonoscopy with her. Nice enough, educates the patient. But when I had the procedure, nothing was set up. I was just about to go under, and they were running around looking for the tools and machines needed to do the surgery. Real comforting. Her office did not send the info to my primary care provider, so a couple years later, I find this out and have to call again.

I had emergency surgery in 2016. My colon had perforated and I was septic. I was literally hours away from passing. I was in a drug induced coma for two days after my surgery in ICU for two days. I spent three weeks in the hospital that time, going back for a week three weeks later because I went back to work too fast. I didn’t have insurance. Because I didn’t have insurance and I owed money to all of my doctors, I could not get my ostomy reversal surgery with Dr. Angel until my doctor bills were paid at Dekalb. Understand, I had insurance in 2017 and could have had the reversal done at another facility. I waited until all of my doctor bills were paid at Dekalb so I could return. I went back to Dr. Angel this year and had my reversal. There were complications, but not the fault of my doctor. She got me through all of the complications, I’ve had my reversal and I am almost completely back to normal. But don’t just listen to me, ask the nurses and techs at this fine hospital what they… think. They see her with many different patients. I had four surgeries since my first in 2016. I would never thought that I would ever go into surgery with no trepidation. I was not the least bit anxious prior to any of my last three surgeries.

Was very cold and sterile. She talks to you like you are an idiot. She recommended an over the top colorectal surgery for me that literally would have castrated me with a full not needed hysterectomy and put a urine bag on me for 5-6 months. I almost fainted in her office when she told me everything she wanted to do to me. By the way I am 70 years old and very youthful and healthy. She also made sure 2 other doctors in her office got a piece of me and got paid in a separate procedure and ruined my chest due to a simple biopsy thoracic procedure that should not have left a permanent raised scar on my chest, ruining my whole wardrobe and that still hurts after 5 months. She wanted the hysterectomy and colon surgery and urine bag put on me done at the same time the colorectal surgery would have been done. Sending me all over the hospital to all the doctors that would be joining her in the surgery. I was paying copays all over the place. No one bothered to check if I really needed… all the stuff she was recommending. The so called Oncologist for the hospital was going along with everything she recommended. Thank God I had sense enough to get a 2nd opinion from a wonderful Colorectal Surgeon at the same facility who was shocked at all the stuff she was trying to do to me. All Glory be to God, He was not ready for my life to be shut down like this. My new surgeon did a very successful surgery on me and did not have to do all the stuff she was trying to get paid to do to me. He pronounced me completely Cancer free after surgery. I hope this get posted to save someone else from her.

Phenomenal aptitude, bedside manner, depth of knowledge and ability to articulate her diagnosis. Her expertise were invaluable. Literally saved the life of my loved one.

If you want your life turned upside down and filled with constant pain and not one call from her after 10 weeks YES 10 weeks of agony then choose her. I was a very healthy woman with one hemmroid from pregnancy. A quick easy removal for relief is what I was told. Well 10 weeks I have had to reduce time at work and change days due to severe pain and bleeding for 10 weeks. I. Any leave my house until I have had a bowel movement due to bleeding and pain. I haven't been out with family or friends due to constant worry about if I have to go to the bathroom. It has debilitated every aspect of my life and with all the calls and going back twice it hasn't changed. They downplay it and send you on your way. In my heart I feel they know a mistake was made and now I am finally not going back and have found another doctor.

This has been the most horrendous experience I have every had. I feel obligated to post info to maybe save someone the pain, sickness and mutilated feeling I have been suffering from for 7 weeks! I was told it's just an incision of a hemmroid which will give me "relief." I have had NO RELIEF and instead I am in pain that is unbearable and causes me to cry EVERY DAY! My poor husband has had to take off many days to take care of the kids due to my pain level. Not to mention I have been a prisoner of my house due to what has been done to me. Don' t bother going in to ask what is going on- all I got was it looks clean! I asked IS IT HEALING and she couldn't tell me she said well it looks clean... And looked at me as if I was asking a crazy question. It has destroyed my life at home, work etc and has been absolutely debilitating!! I suggest unless it is a life threatening situation DONT DO IT::: and if you want to be treated like a human being don't go here!
