Dr. Maja Stefanovic-Racic, MD

Came in for thyroid issues, thyroid nodule, unexplained weight gain. Left halfway through the appointment in tears because she kept saying I needed bariatric surgery and when I declined she laughed. She kept trying to tell me, like 10 times, that my weight gain was caused by stopping breastfeeding and I'm eating too much and she DID NOT listen to me at all. I don't think she actually cares about her patients. Do not see this provider.

She saw a report post treatment, which was for my family doctor and called me at home to consult and ask to have me re-tested resulting in a clear report.

Dr. Stefanovic is without a doubt extremely educated and dedicated to her work. However, there has not yet been a visit where she was not incredibly rude and condescending to me. Professionally, she's great, but personally, Dr. Stefanovic could definitely be more respectful to her patients.

I went to see her for weight gain; hair loss and stomach problems. She ordered tests but then no follow up. I called her for results and no call back. I was connected to her superior. At the next visit, she began to be rude asking why I did this. Regarding my hair loss, she said "it's only hair". I was in my early thirties and any dr. should realize how traumatic hair loss is in our society to a woman. I had checked on my profile that I was being treated for anxiety and she said that she discounts anything a patient with anxiety has to say. She said that her husband had it and she discounted what he says. Total ignorance of anxiety -- it doesn't impair one's cognitive skills. At the advice of my PCP, I did not go back to her but went to the Endocrinology dept. at West Penn. Very satisfied there.

She was friendly and the office staff was great. I didn't feel rushed out of there, but she did not want to do labs, even after I requested them. She told me that she didn't need to see a full workup of labs to know what was going on with me. I felt my medication dosage was too strong and she refused to have labwork done to see, I will not be going back to this doctor, Although she took her time with me and got a full health history and was very nice, she didn't feel that my situation could ever improve and labwork was unneccesary.

This dr. is outstanding. She is very caring and has even called me back on the weekends. She listens to patients and adjusts medications based on symptoms (I.e. doesn't just say your TSH is in the normal range if you aren't feeling well). Her office staff is great. The office staff is friendly, they take you on time, and always respond to questions you phone in within 24 hours. This is the best doctor I have ever had! The only bad thing is that it is difficult to get a routinr appointment.
