Dr. Maria Dolores Leonido-Yee, MD

While Dr. Leonido-Yee is a kind person, I do not believe she is cautious enough with the prescribing of Benzodiazepines. These drugs should be used for emergency cases only. They are intended to be used for only a week or so before stepping down from them. They need to be prescribed at the lowest amounts possible and monitored closely. I was given over 200 pills over a few months and never given any warnings how addicting these drugs are. She should never have given me more than a weeks supply and she should have been monitoring my intake of these drugs more closely. She also had no real knowledge of how to get patients off these drugs. SO severe withdrawal was misdiagnosed as life long need for this drug. Benzodiazepines are not meant for life long usage. They have been shown to be STRONGLY linked to dementia when used for a decade or more regularly. Dr. Leonido-Yee is a good person who tries very hard to be there for her patients, but I feel she was negligent in her duties… as a medical doctor.

I like the fact that she is very technologically savvy and uses her ipad to keep notes on you and your history. She remembers past events that we've spoken about and has really helped me get better.
