Dr. Maria Popa Muste, MD

I can't really speak to this doctor's medical knowledge but the service at her office has been terrible. My grandmother needed a medication refilled and they screwed it up many many times. I even talked to the doctor herself and she said that the pharmacy was wrong about something but it turned out that she or one of her staff were the ones who were incorrect. I mentioned to her that the service at her office was awful and she said that they are dealing with the Coronavirus crisis, but this is not any kind of good excuse because the service at the office was pretty much just as terrible before the crisis, and I told this to her. Can't really speak to her medical knowledge, but the mess at her office that I encountered was truly one of the worst I have ever seen.

I had been to multiple neurologists and had a diagnosis but a new doc wanted Muste to do a consult. I spent time providing all my labs and tests and sharing as much as I could about my condition. Then she schedules an EEG without explaining why I had to do this again. Painful test that I had done 3 times already and it did not provide any data to further the care for my condition. Day before the test I came to my senses and said No! Told her to Work with the data already there and offer up different testing. Then she order over 15 bloods tests which repeated data already acquired. Insurance called me and asked why same tests were being done within 3 months time. She was simply going through the motions. No insight. No consideration. She was just checking off boxes when what she needed to do was review existing data and listen. Have been sorely disappointed with all the Scarsdale Medical Group doctors I have been to. Don’t waste your time or breath here.

Very few neurologists have experience in this disease making it tremendously scary. Dr. Muste has made me feel safe and she's always given me time to explain what I'm feeling and my concerns. I love her.

new exactly what was wrong.

I have a real inflammatory disorder and spinal cord injury diagnosed by a second opinion doctor. This doctor missed seeing the injury and dismissed my very real disabling symptoms as psychosomatic. She didn’t understand my rare disorder. It was traumatic that I thought it must me all in my head until I finally got help by a top notch neuro somewhere else. Terrible.

This is quite literally the worst doctor I have ever seen. She belittled all of my symptoms, all of which were brand new to me as of a month prior, as in they were pretty scary for me. Ever test or follow up she scheduled or referred, she did while chuckling and telling me that it was really just to give me peace of mind. Um what? I literally gained nothing from the experience other than feeing very disregarded and hurt. Not to mention my health issues were nowhere near resolved until the next neurologist I went to was amazing and pretty much solves my issues overnight. There was a lot more to the visit and the Dr. Muste visit that i wont go into like her prescribing me a medication that is contra-indicated for some of my previous diagnoses (!!!) and her telling me that i should like it because I’ll lose weight on it (!!!!) but suffice it to say, I truly believe she should not be allowed to practice.

I called and left messages on two different days and never got a call back. Very disappointed and looking for someone new.

I needed a refill of my medicine for my seizure disorder. I called on Monday & had to leave a message on her assistant's voicemail. Never received a call back. I call back on Tuesday & explain that I had left a message & did not hear back & that I have run out of medicine and asked if I could get refill today. I was told that I needed to make an appointment, as I haven't been there in a while & I need to be seen (which I was expecting). I made the next available appointment, which was not for another month & again asked if I could get a refill for my medicine just to last me until the appointment. I was told that she was gone for the day but that they would ask the covering doctor if he/she could send in the refill. I asked if someone could please let me know, as I now have no more medicine. Never received a phone call. Finally received a phone call on Wednesday at 3:30 pm that Dr. Muste would NOT refill my prescription because I need to be seen. I explained that I KNOW that, that's… why I made the next available appointment. The woman apologized & said there was nothing else she could do. I said an apology isn't getting me my medicine. She just kept repeating that she was sorry. I end up speaking with the office manager who again repeated that my prescription was not going to be refilled until I was seen. I kept asking what they would like me to do since I CANNOT be without my anti seizure medicine. She suggested that I see another doctor at another location so that MAYBE he or she could give me a refill. I explained that this should have been told to me the last time I called for a refill & that provisions should be made for me to be seen in this instance if she's not going to give me enough pills to get me to my appointment. I mean don't call me after she's left for the day and tell me there's nothing that can be done. Anyway, I end up going to some random doctor in their Scarsdale office & explain to him that I'm just there for a refill & tell him I've been on the medicine for 14 years. Even HE is surprised when I tell him that Dr. Muste wouldn't give me enough pills to get me to my appointment. He called in my Rx without batting an eye. This morning (now Thursday), I received a voicemail on my cell that Dr. Muste did refill my Rx & that I can go to my pharmacy & pick it up. So that whole story yesterday was a lie?? Was she ever even told that I needed a refill? The doctor isn't bad, but the office is the absolute WORST!!!

Never called me with a diagnosis. I called her. She left a message she needed more in. I returned call and never heard from her again.
