Dr. Marion Perkins Van Kirk, MD

Appointment was for 9:30AM and arrived at 9:25. Waited in the waiting room - not reception area - until 9:45AM Medical technician led me to an examining room and performed the routine tests and measurements and administered eye drops. Brought out to the waiting room until 11:00AM. Led into an examining room and was seen by the doctor at approximately 11:10AM - one hour and forty minutes after appointment time. No mention of my long wait or any apology. Exam seemed to be thorough if mechanical.Atmosphere seemed much friendlier and more involved in prior years.

Dr. VanKirk will always be in my life long memories but for the wrong reasons. I started seeing her due to issues with double vision. She diagnosed it as Superior Oblique Palsy in my right eye. The next visit she said it was my left eye. I asked why the change, she said "it just is". I felt like she was rushing me out, and I always left with questions. An MRI was ordered. She called me while I was working and told me that there were lesions on the MRI and that I had Multiple Sclerosis...again this was over the phone. I was alone and had no one to turn to after hearing this news. I do not fault Dr. VanKirk for her S.O.P misdiagnosis, MS is something that could not be seen without an MRI or other tests, but to tell someone something so life changing as that, was very upsetting. I didn't appreciate that. So the rushing, along with phone call has left me leaving this review.

Dr. Van Kirk is a very good doctor. She has helped me a lot. I was born with nystagmus and it is very hard for my vision to be tested. Dr. Van Kirk never makes me feel like I am different because of my problem. She treats me like she would anyone else. She is also a very nice, beautiful, intelligent lady and I look up to her a lot.
