Dr. Mark Lee Allen, MD

Stay away! I’ve seen Dr. Allen on two occasions and on both he acted with disdain and talked down to you. I also felt that being a minority he wanted me out of there quickly and to never come back by making the visits as humiliating as possible! I thought a Doctor’s oath was to take care or patients, notwithstanding their skin color or nationality, Dr. Allen is two faced on this!

If you are looking for an urologist, then look no further. Dr Mark Allen is an excellent Doctor that cares about your well being. Dr. Allen explained my upcoming TURP surgery in laymen terms and erased all my fears about the procedure. The surgery was successful and my health has been totally restored. Thank you Dr. Allen for your compassion and most of all, your surgery skills.

Did not ever mention that if the bladder never emptied it could effect blood pressure or cause infections. When I called to inquire about taking Flomax twice a day instead of just once a day, there was never a call back from doctor or staff. I have since started seeing a different doctor and the difference is amazing. More information obtained and explained than I EVER received from Dr Allen. Still never received a return call from Dr. Allens office after leaving several messages.

Dr Allen knows his field. He listened to what I had to say and took care of my concerns. Would definitely refer him to anyone.

Scares patients by telling about all the men who died. Does not keep up with new treatments. Has old scary xray machine took an hour to work. Office is nasty. He is a loser.

I was sent to Dr. Allen by the Emergency Room ( 2am), Kidney stones on both sides blocking my Ureters . His office fit me in that morning (10:30 am) and by 4:00 pm I was having surgery . Dr, Allen was pleasant, informative and has a great sense of humor . I had to go back for a 2nd surgery 3 weeks later . I'm glad I was referred to Dr. Allen and will continue seeing him . His nurses and staff are always pleasant , the office is ran efficiently and very clean . My wait time was a little long on my follow up appointment however, I understand emergencies arise and would rather wait then have a DR who just pushes people through..

Dr. Allen spoke very rudely to me. He was arrogant and condescending. Told me I needed to have a procedure. It was something that I wasn't familiar with. I asked about it. He told me the name of it again and handed me a brochure. Definitely no bedside manner WHATSOEVER! I literally ended up crying the entire appointment because of the way he was talking to me. I even asked him to try to be kind to me. Patients deserve to be treated with care and compassion. This doctor did not at all seem concerned about my feelings, nor did he want to hear anything about my medical history. When I called to complain and try to see another doctor in the practice for the procedure I needed, the office manager (Brenda) wouldn't even talk to me until my third call. When I did talk to her, she was just as rude as he was. Their policy is that you can not see another doctor in the practice, although she was quick to let me know that they all take each other's calls - isn't this a contradiction? She defended… him without even listening to what he had said to me or how he had treated me. She was pretty much yelling at me on the phone. Deplorable treatment at this office! Run - you'll be dealing with your illness/pain and then the heartache from the poor treatment. I think they've forgotten many parts of the Hippocratic oath: * I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug. * I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick. * May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

I had several questions that I wanted answered before having a particular procedure done. Dr. Allen arrogantly dismissed my questions, saying "I've been doing this for X years, I know what I'm doing, trust me". He came off as arrogant, aloof, & seemed like he wanted to rush me out of the office so that he could move on to his next patient. Even his front office staff was curt and unwelcoming.

If you like an office, staff, and physician who is without any bedside manner and compassion, one that will keep you waiting, one that talks in circles and does not offer any written information (but instead tells you there is plenty of information on the Internet) you might be happy here. My husband had a biopsy done by Dr. Allen, and we were told it would be a week to 10 days for the results, and that it would be online on his patient portal. It wasn't. And after numerous calls to his office (which weren't returned) we waited for the results only to find out the doctor went on vacation for two weeks. He finally called my husband and told him over the phone he had cancer. Very bluntly. No real explanation - just said to make an appointment to come in about a week and a half later to discuss the options. Today we went in, and the first thing the girl at the window wanted was more money. Then we had to wait at least 30 minutes before being called back. As we were trying… to understand what the doctor was saying, he acted very condescending and seemed to be contradicting himself. I finally broke down crying because he showed absolutely no compassion, empathy, or emotion. When we expressed wanting to have additional diagnostic tests to see clearly what was involved / he acted like we should not be questioning his diagnosis. His attitude was 'you don't need to know - it wouldn't change my plan of action.' My husband and I have been in the health care field for longer than he has, and I would never consider acting this way with a patient - especially when discussing something as sensitive as a life threatening disease. It doesn't cost anything to say a few reassuring words, like, "I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, and I understand this is hard, but we will work together with you to find the best solution", or something to that effect. Definitely NOT the doctor for this family.

Great bedside manner. Very professional and personable. Excellent knowledge.
