I am looking into ways to make a more formal complaint. I am currently recovering from knee surgery from another doctor who ordered an MRI and found a severe tear. I initially went to Dr. Ellen after my knee had swelled from my knee to my ankle in a very obvious way. I was unable to walk steps and am fit and young. He told me to ice it and maybe retire and that there was nothing anybody could do. He didn't order an MRI or even suggest physical therapy. It took a month to get into a better doctor and the tear worsened as for two weeks I was believing this doctor. He criticized my muscles as a female in a room of three men and compared my muscles to my boyfriends "beautiful" muscles--it was absolutely humiliating and made it much longer for me to get necessary care. He showed me two stretches and continued to joke about how much he is charging me.

My father visited him for the first time today at the VA, expecting to receive a steroid injection for his arthritic knee. My father is 73 and diabetic. He fell asleep early last night and missed his insulin shot. When the doctor checked his blood sugar it was a little high. Instead of telling my father they were unable to do the shot today for that reason, he told my dad he was "too fat and his sugar was too high." I find this to be completely unacceptable. If you have the option, steer clear of this pompous jerk.
