Dr. Mark Hackett Falahee, MD

Years ago I saw Dr. Falahee. I'm writing now because I recently learned that he lied to me about my MRI results. I had suffered for 13 years with back pain and after trying numerous different conservative options I decided to see a surgeon. After getting and MRI and x-rays the physician's assistant said that it was standard to do lumbar fusion surgery and they sent me a DVD to prepare me. Then I saw Dr. Falahee. He came into the room and was immediately condescending. He told me he looked my MRI and X-rays and said there was very little wrong with my back. He said he didn't do surgery on fibromyalgia patients and that I needed to suck it up, lose weight, and do Pilates. I left demoralized. I told my rheumatologist of my experience and she told me that unfortunately many people had that experience and sent me to the pain clinic where for years epidural steroid injections helped my pain but they stopped working. They ordered a new MRI with and without contrast and referred to a surgeon… at U of M. The surgeon also wanted to see my MRI results from 10 years. It was the first time I had seen the written report and I was shocked to see that Dr. Falahee lied about my results because he is prejudice against people with fibromyalgia. I had degeneration of 3 discs, severe at my L5-S1 and stenosis. The bottom line is my L5-S1 disc is now completely disintegrated and my L4-L5 is almost so. My L5 vertebrae is partially detached and moving backwards and forwards in relation to the rest of the spine. I also have a large synovial cyst. The surgeon I absolutely need decompression surgery with spacers and rods implanted and I may need a second surgery to remove the synovial cyst, which is a riskier surgery, if it doesn't resolve with the decompression surgery. I only wish I had seen another surgeon sooner.

I suffered from lower back pain for years and it kept getting worse each year. I tried Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, and Spinal Decompression treatments. My General Practitioner gave me a referral to Dr. Falahee. He reviewed my MRI and gave me several options. I chose to have spinal surgery and I am totally pain free. Dr. Falahee was so thorough in his explanation of treatment. I am thrilled with the results and I'm able to get active again. I would highly recommend Dr. Falahee. Ken McFarland

The very first visit I had with Dr. Falahee, I knew he was the man that I wanted to do my much needed spine surgery. Extremely knowledgeable in his field and very well in explaining and being open and honest with your options. I had 2 different doctors in another state before moving tell me the exact same thing that Dr. Falahee told me needed to be done, although he did give me choices and I'm so glad he and I decided on the right one. I've never had surgery of any kind and really didn't realize how extreme this one was going to be, but he made me feel so at ease that I was not even a little nervous the morning of surgery. His listening skills and educated answers along with his bedside manner are phenomenal leaving a patient feeling very at ease. He did an amazing operation on me and when I woke up I instantly felt no pain where the most major pain had been for so long. I must also say that his staff is amazing as well. Everyone during my short stay were very caring and… helpful at all times. Always checking on me and making sure that I had everything I needed. So I would like to thank you Dr. Falahee, Dr. Meghan, Ms. Brenda, Dr. Russel and all you other wonderful nurses and staff so very much for what you've done to help me to be the best new me that I can!

Had failed back Surgery from him 1997 and also did expriement opposits side said be less scar tissue and created more ! Also said had 95% getting better ! Open back sugery is only 20% succes!

Dr Falahee is a most compassionate and caring dr. He has an excellent bedside manner and is courteous and attentive. He took the time to explain my surgery in detail and answer any questions. The surgery was flawless. I would highly recommend him.

I feel I owe my life to Dr Falahee, I had a compression fracture in my L3 vertebrae, he recognized it was cancer and performed kyphoplasty and did a bone biopsy. He put me in touch with Dr Al Baghdadi who is also awesome- I could not of ask for better care.

How many patients does he have to abuse, before he is not allowed to be a surgeon? He is not a good listener, no bedside manner, rude and augmentive! Listen up patients, do your research and believe the negative low ratings are a fact for Dr. Falahee. The positive ratings I am sure are friends and family? He doesn't even deserve a one star, but I guess you can't do a review, unless you give one star.

He's always late or doesn't show up. If I could give him no stars, I would, he doesn't deserve any stars. He had me get three more x-rays, but I had many more from other doctors. I ended up firing him, because of his lack of bedside manner and rudeness. Needless to say, I got stuck paying for more x-rays that I didn't need.

He is chronically late or never shows up, had to reschedule three times. He is rude and nasty to the core, unbelievable and will never see him again.

I have had three procedures over a period of 22 years from Dr. Falahee. He was always very honest and never claimed to be a magician, but one who would treat the problem at hand, recognizing that one problem solved may be followed by a subsequent weakening in another area of the spine which may need treatment. He emphasized a team approach, meaning he would do his part and then I needed to do mine with physical therapy, exercise, and lifestyle changes. I have a congenital condition which has resulted in two other surgeries to my neck (another physician) but my lower spine continues to do well.
