Dr. Mark Douglas Fish, DO

Dr. Fish listened and explained where the pain in my legs was coming from. He said the pain was coming my lower spine and not my hip/knee. He recommended a MRI to figure out my options to manage my pain.

Dr. Fish was very honest with me which I had not been getting with other doctors I appreciate that and his professional demeanor. I think it was a productive visit.

My 72 year old sister fell and broke her hip near a small town hospital that couldn't do that surgery. We drove her to Des Moines on Saturday evening and Sunday morning Dr. Fish performed surgery. He was very calm and engaging with us after surgery and answered all of our questions and concerns. His PA, who has done all of her follow up, is wonderful. He has also been very engaging, willing to answer all questions and address all of our concerns. My sister has been extremely satisfied and she is has been very confident with their help and expertise. We would recommend Dr. Fish and his staff.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Fish for close to 10 years. In that time, I've had multiple appointments and a few surgeries. My family, too, has visited with Dr. Fish numerous times. Dr. Fish clearly knows his craft and is certainly abreast of modern treatments & techniques. What I really appreciate is his conservative approach. He never, at least with us, pushed for surgery. I'd recommend Dr. Fish without hesitation and have done so multiple times.

While the first appointment was next morning, beware that this doctor is not there for your post surgically, especially if something goes wrong. I never saw him after surgery, he was not there during my return appointments and he refuses to adequately refer for a second opinion. Only when refused to see the PA did he reappear with exceptionally poor bedside manner. I was much better off before surgery!!!!!!

Great surgeon with outstanding manners

After a fall down a flight of stairs, with a torn medial meniscus & 5 large bone chips behind my kneecap, I could barely stand to walk. Surgery by Dr. Fish took one morning, left me on crutches for only 2 days, a cane for 2 more, and painfree immediately (esp in comparison!). After a year, I am totally painfree and I can't even see the surgery scar. Great doctor; highly recommend him for knee surgery!
