everyone within SNGH, stay away! pompeous, arrogant, disrepectful. will not listen and was called fat, old and menapausal. days later i had a stroke! this was 2012, now july 2025 he has attacked me again after i told everyone to keep him away. came in my room anyway causing a panic attack and my bp went sky hi .patient / advocacy will not help, loyal to flemmer no matter what. wouldn't send a cadaver to him .BEWARE! i literally fear for my health from him. i cannot be the only one to know this!

Terrible to work with. Very disrespectful to patients.

Dr Flemmer is one of the worst physicians I have ever met in my life. He insulted my wife and he stuck a probe on me without asking me. He put some kind of oozy gel on me and started to poke me in the stomach with some kind of rod. I was in a lot of pain and I asked him to stop, but he said "

Dr. Flemmer is a wonderful physician, simply a gift to humankind. My family and I (this includes a sweet but feisty grandparent) have enjoyed the unqualified benefits and privilege of his care for over 13 years.His knowledge of medical science as espoused in the accuracy of his diagnosis is unparalleled evidenced by the apparent ease by which he calls an ailment and the dramatic recovery that follows upon commencing treatment. A no frills physician, Dr. Flemmer exhibits a high respect for individuals and their dignity, making sure that no aspect of his explanation of ailment or treatment conveys in a condescending manner, neither does the patient feel lost in a sea of professional jargon. I have yet to see a physician save a handful with this remarkable ability to present a full picture of wellness in a given circumstance, and more importantly articulating with eloquence, where the patient fits in this picture.He bothers to put the patient in charge of his or her well being,… injecting just the appropriate and sufficient dose of medical expertise. No one leaves Dr. Flemmer's office visit with any confusion about whats going on or where the management of the patients health is headed.His holistic approach is also commendable as he treats ailments and patients as a cohesive whole, where wholesomeness requires and continues to demand a well aligned operation of the entire system in order to ensure full functionality.In my opinion, one should wonder why Dr. Flemmer's methods is not listed under "best practices" for his line of work, since the line between wellness and the lack thereof is not blurred in Dr. Flemmers practice. The MAN IS REALLY BRILLIANT !!!

Dr. Mark Flemmer was my physician for 8 years whom I visited at least every 3 months. I first met him in 1998 when I was hospitalized and he was among a group of residents who came into my room in a teaching hospital. I was seriously ill and no one was sure what was causing my severe respiratory problem so I was interrogated, poked, and tested endlessly by many young zealous residents. Of all who questioned me and tested me, Dr. Flemmer was the most thorough and his brilliance was clearly evident. When I left the hospital, I did my own questioning to find out just who this doctor was and with what group he was affiliated. I began seeing him at Eastern Virginia Medical School's Department of Internal Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia in 1998 and never doubted his great mind and the fact that he was truly interested in my case. He is very high energy and his dry wit and impatience are not everyone's cup of tea but we got along famously and the association was a long one with a doctor… I knew was very concerned and did everything in his power to get this less than obedient patient to comply with his astute medical advice. Though his personality may not mesh with everyone, I highly recommend Dr. Mark Flemmer to anyone wanting a very insightful, astute, bright doctor young enough to embrace new medical advances yet old enough to have experience, wisdom, and to be on top of his profession. His accent is charming, his approach very direct and no nonsense that some won't or can't understand or appreciate but in his own way, he is very compassionate and I had the opportunity to benefit from that during my time as his patient when I lost my father, my son and my brother in a span of six months. Dr. Flemmer took much more time than normally allotted for an appointment to impart kindness and advice that he felt were in my best interest both medically and personally. During the course of my ongoing illness which rendered me disabled, I have seen many physicians in many areas of specialty and I enjoy picking their brains to test their competence. Without compunction, I will say that Dr. Mark Flemmer stood head and shoulders above them all.
