So grateful to Dr. Nelson for his exceptional skills, professionalism, caring and compassion. Been his patient for over a year. He listens to your questions/concerns giving honest feedback and options with detailed explanation. Explored less invasive options until they no longer were working. Never did I feel pushed into surgical treatment. ACDF C5-C6 and Disk replacement C6-C7 with outstanding results (2 months post-op)

I am a very activate women, Working out two hours, six days a week. Last year I started getting pain in my left leg. It was my sciatica nerve. I went to the local doctor in the area. He did an epidermal injection of cortisone in the area. Unfortunately it didn't work. I waste 6 months. Then my primary doctor suggested to see Dr. Nelson. He has a local office in my area, plus San Diego. I saw Dr. Nelson within days after making the appointment. Dr. Nelson was completely thorough, after reading the MRI, he show me my problem and explained what was causing my pain. He explained my opinions. He tried the epidermal, that didn't work. Then he explained my other opinions and surgery was the best. No Pain!! I'm still recuperating, but no pain. Dr. Nelson is completely into his patience's recovery. He's available by phone, and he returns your call. His staff is excellent. Dr. Nelson and Staff is a "12"

I have been to a "spine specialist" before who couldn't read his own MRI. That is NOT the case with Dr. Nelson. He puts other ortho surgeons to shame with his expertise and caring. He got me in for a new patient appointment asap and he has been so helpful. He is a doctor who will spend time with his patients instead of dismissing you quickly and ignoring your concerns. He takes the time to listen and explain things. His exam was very thorough and even though there isn't much he can do for me since I am a pregnant patient, he did not turn me away and has done everything he can until I am able to have something done about my back. The office staff is so punctual and helpful - all around excellent experience.

Words can't express how wonderful he is. He listens and really cares about your concerns. He helps you understand and I never felt rushed. He is a credit to the profession.

Dr. Mark Nelson actually brought my life back. I had major back problems and Dr.Nelson knew almost immediately after viewing the X-rays what was the problem.Dr. Nelson said that while every patient is different, usually he would recommend surgery to 1 out of 10 patients.In my case, surgery was my only option.The nerves below my L4/L5 were being completely shut off by my bulging disk.I had a Level 1 fusion and a 2 rods inserted to relieve the pressure.I was in the hospital for 5 days and everyday Dr. Nelson came in to see me.Dr. Nelson came in on Sunday as well with his son to visit. His nurse, Summer, is especially courteous, answer calls back almost immediately. If she is busy, then, she calls back right away. Summer is always polite and listens intently to make sure that any concerns are taken of immediately. All the staff and nurses at Oasis are friendly courteous and treat you with respect. I am still seeing Dr. Nelson and would highly recommend him to anyone with back problems.… He spends time with his patients and treats each as if they were is only patient.
