Dr. Mark Alan Rieger, MD

Average 1 hr wait in waiting room. Another 1 hr or more in exam room. Don’t expect to be out sooner than 3 hours. But office policy according to manager is he can’t see you if your more than 10 minutes late—happened once and refused a followup visit even after my son has been a scoliosis patient for 5 years. Office shdnt be overbooking or scheduling earlier surgery which may overlap with office visits.

My son is about to have a second elbow surgery to properly relocate the ulner nerve Rieger claimed to have properly relocated. Had we realized this we would have never let him touch my sons knee. My son needed 3 additional knee surgeries to repair the damage Rieger caused when attempting to repair his meniscus. Parents be ware - his EGO gets in the way. He does not listen. He feels he knows what is best for your child - clearly he does not. Please do not put your child in harms way. Hopefully this 8th surgery will be the last for my son.

My daughter (17) has been experiencing hip pain. We went to Dr. Rieger to find out what was going on. He kept calling her princess which was odd but whatever...He sent us for an MRI. He wrote the prescription up for the wrong hip. After much back and forth with the office we finally got the correct prescription faxed to us. It took weeks. We completed the MRI and waited to hear from the doctor. Weeks passed and no word. We left multiple messages and received on response. I could never reach a live person. I finally received a call back after about my 5th call. They couldn't find the results and the doctor was on vacation. After about 2 more weeks I received another call informing me that they had the results and there is a tear in my daughter's hip. We were scheduled to meet with another doctor in the practice who performs this type of surgery. Today I received a voice mail message letting me know that they would need to reschedule. I called them back immediately and held for several… minutes. Someone finally picked up the phone and then dropped it back down, disconnecting my call. This happened twice. I called a third time and am now being directed to the answering service. I'm done. I will never return to this practice!

Wait time of over an hour not acceptable. I will Be looking for a new specialist.

Each time I have come to see this doctor, we have waited well over an hour to be seen. This is not acceptable. I will be looking for a new scoliosis specialist.

I've been seeing Dr. Rieger for nearly 8 years now, for a rare bone disease. After having many doctors unsure of what the condition was, I was referred to Dr. Rieger, and received incredible care over the past 8 years. He has been essential in helping me understand my condition and in numerous injuries I've had associated with the condition. He is an incredible doctor and person, and I simply cannot recommend him enough.

Dr Rieger has long been the Pediatric Orthopedist that physicians (including myself) use for their families. He is a highly skilled, intelligent physician with a great bedside manner that puts children at ease immediately. His staff members are very helpful and get things done quickly and professionally.

Dr. Rieger was highly recommended by my sonâ??s physical therapist, but our experience was horrible. We waited 50 minutes before a nurse brought us into the exam room. I explained that I was bringing my son in for two reasons. One reason was a second opinion on a heel injury. The other had to do with a completely separate issue. After getting all of our information, the nurse spoke to the doctor and returned only to tell us Dr. Rieger was denying us treatment because we were coming for a second opinion and had not followed their office policy for second opinions. Apparently their policy is that you must bring complete medical records from the original doctor and you must leave a $100 deposit in advance. I had with me my sonâ??s X-rays and all his physical therapy reports. I just didnâ??t have a report from the other doctor. I explained to the nurse that when I made my appointment, I clearly told the receptionist that one of my reasons for my visit was for a second opinion and… was never asked for a deposit. The nurse said that the information I brought was insufficient and she insisted that the office staff would not have failed to tell me of their â??second opinion policyâ??. The doctor still would not see us. Iâ??d like to point out, when I made my appointment, the staff sent me a two-page document with OFFICE POLICIES that I was required to read and sign before my appointment. Nowhere in that document is there any mention of special â??second opinion policiesâ??, without which a patient may be denied treatment after waiting for nearly an hour. It was unbelievable. I asked if the doctor would see my son for the other issue, unrelated to the second opinion questions I had. She went back to Dr. Rieger who again said he would not see us. When I inquired why he did not have the decency to come in explain his policy and why he was denying my son treatment, she said he had other patients to see. Despite the fact that my 8 year old and I waited patiently for nearly an hour, he could not spare 5 minutes to talk to me. He may be a skilled doctor, but he is not a considerate business person.

Waited 1 hour in waiting room and another 30 minutes in the examination room. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Lady in reception window is rude as if she is doing you a favor. Dr Rieger better be the best in the state to deal with this attitude. We will see. Not putting up with much more.

The office has three windows, and is a little confusing when they call you. If you go to the wrong window and ask if they called you, they will give you attitude... We signed in 10 min before appointment time, and I noticed the person who signed in a second before us were 30 minutes early for their appointment. After I signed in, the receptionist told me she would be with me in a minute. Someone was ahead of us, she said. I suspected that was the people who had signed in early, but I sat down and waited to see what would happen. Sure enough, the patient with the later appointment got called in before us. When I mentioned to the receptionist that our appointment was at 11:10 she snapped back: well it's only 11:05 now. So I explained that our appointment was before the other patient. She said they were here before us. I said to her that I did not realize that whoever shows up first would be seen first. She said that the doctor would not be seeing the other patient first. However, we… ended up being called in about 11:45. My child was promptly x-ray'd by a technician, then we waited about 45 min in the exam room. We left the office about 12:45.. By now, my child was starving and had missed school lunch, so we ended up missing the rest of the school day. Doctor Rieger is a wonderful doctor, and has great rapport with the children, but his office staff leaves a lot to be desired.
