Dr. Mark D Schellhammer, DO

It's absolutely shocking he still has a license.

I have already had a torn meniscus and I am fairly confident that I have torn it again, so I scheduled an appointment with this office and was given this Dr. as the knee is his specialty. The office has recently relocated, so the environment was wonderful (clean, modern, cozy) and the staff were by far the nicest front desk staff I have ever come in contact with in a Dr's office. That's about where my satisfaction ended. I waited over an hour to be called back to the exam room. From there, I was taken immediately to X-Ray (before seeing the Dr) and then I waited for the Dr. to come speak with me. When he came in the room, I could already sense his arrogance and he sure lived up to that! He didn't discuss my X-Rays with me (still have no idea if he even looked at them) and barely asked me what symptoms I was having. I came to the office b/c of my right knee and after his (not) thorough exam, proceeded to tell me that my left knee was "most definitely" torn and completely ignored… my right knee pain. He basically told me that my running training is wrong and that I can show up on race day without ever having trained (huh? who does that?!?). He is listed as a sports med Dr. however he let me know that he wasn't a "track coach" so he can't talk to me about how to keep my healthy while running. He told me to run my race and if my knee still hurt, then come back and he'll "scope out my knee." NO THANKS! Needless to say I was shocked and disappointed in him and his arrogance and will NOT be going back there, regardless of how nice the new facilities are or the friendliness of the the staff.

poor diagnostic knowledge ,shoot cortisone before know injury from MRI test,don't lessen the patient ,don't offer diagnostic in written ,work for the Insurance company .

After 30 years of knee doctors, I finally have one that is upfront, caring and personable.
