I have been through a horrible time with Gastro issues. There are times I may have to call or message more than once but I get it. He has to take care of the sickest first. If I needed something his staff was always on top of it. He will call personally when necessary to check on you and it is a comfort. His patient portal works great for communicating and his assistant is knowledgeable and usually prompt.

Made my routine appt 2 months ago. Verified they would be opened on Columbus Day. Got someone to take off a day of work to drive me, took the prep. Almost 9 pm the day before the test, message on the answering machine... canceling my procedure. When pressed for a reason, was told the doctor was “in the hospital“. Apparently there is no coverage in case he falls ill. They shut the office down on Columbus Day, but the very next day left a message to reschedule !?!? Worked most of my life in hospital or doctors office... I know things can come up... that’s why there is coverage. Sorry for the frail, elderly ppl who may have been in the same situation and that may have had additional medical issues. Just an unbelievable experience. Skip this place. One star is too much.

I was calling for an appointment around 3:12 pm and message said they are CLOSED at 3:00 pm - talk about bankers hours! Next day I called at 11:30 and got, ”we are CLOSED for lunch”! Really? Lunch at 11:30? C’Mon, do your job!

From this patient's perspective, his bedside manner isn't always perfect but he's an excellent doctor and truly wants you to do well. Yes, I understand the comments about rudeness, arrogance, etc. as I have seen glimmers of the same from time to time over the past 15 or so years. He's there to keep you and probably hundreds of others well and the stress sometimes shows. He will be direct with you and, with some perspective, you may come to appreciate it.

Dr refused me as a new patient because I have a history of chrones. Fully insured under Empire.

I found this dr to be arrogant, rude, with a terrible bedside manner. He may be well qualified professionally but his personality & conduct in the office leave much to be desired. I cancelled my follow-up appt, will see another doctor.

Never have I been so ill treated and disrespected when I told this md I was in pain and why didn't he give me a bit more medication. I asked for another Dr when I called. I was told I 'am blocked from having any test from any Dr at Buffalo Gastro. I felt like I was in a movie The head boss of the 20/30's sent an order out and I was eliminated . So my estimate on this md is rude, obnoxious, a Bully and a tyrant. I would never give information to anyone to have him. Imagine a md thinking and acting in such an deplorable way. Don't allow the smile to fool you people . BTW there is Italian in our family as well. May God Bless you in his wisdom to understand how to treat people.

He is a terrific diagnostician, listens well, gives you time to ask questions, and is very thorough, courteous, and pleasant.

I've been a patient of Dr. St. Marie for 10 years. I'm 28 and couldn't imagine going through this whole process without him as my doctor. Reading the response below regarding the patient with crohns disease, I felt as though I was reading a response I had written myself. Phone calls in the evening to check on me, a call from he and his assistant on my birthday, and a TON of office visits that he has had to calm me down during tearful and painful flair ups from the crohns.. amazing at what he does-- never ever has let me down!
