Dr. Marni Jae Sanders, MD

She seems to blame everything on being overweight. She told me I’m obese when I’m not even close to 200 pounds. She said I should “lay off the pizza and ice cream” which is the nastiest thing anyone has ever said to me. I have a thyroid condition which causes me to gain more weight than the average. She is truly a horrible gyno and I do not recommend going to her. Her office is filthy and looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years.

Reading these reviews regarding Dr Sanders are surely not the way I feel about her at all. I feel she has a great bed side manner,pleasant and gives a very thorough examination. Being present for a successful delivery doesn't excuse the way she treats a patient the rest of the 9 months. I would not put myself through that again. OH and she ended up not being present anyway, conveniently at the end of her shift - and NO doctors were there from this practice, even though that's the whole point of why they have multiple doctors. Was delivered by a doctor I just met while the baby's head was coming out.

I have gone to this doctor for years out of necessity only. I was never crazy about her personality or bedside manner, but stayed with her because she had all my records and I liked that she was affiliated with LIJ. She is very cold and it seems like she really doesn't care much about you or anything you have to say. I had been going to her because I didn't have another doctor to go to, but something finally happened that caused me to leave. I went for a routine mammogram (that she sent me for) and they found a lump in my breast. Subsequently, I needed to have a surgical biopsy. The doctor NEVER ONCE called me to find out how I was doing after the biopsy or called me with my biopsy or mammogram results. I called her office several times over the course of a few days to get my results to see if I had CANCER or NOT! Not once did she get on the phone with me or return my call. Instead, I was made to wait over a week to find out whether or not I had breast cancer and here is the best… part- They sent me a letter in the mail to let me know that my biopsy was benign! Thanks a lot! I wasn't even worth a phone call to let me know whether or not I had BREAST CANCER?! I had to worry about this for almost a week longer than I should have and they couldn't even give me the common courtesy of a phone call to tell me whether or not I had CANCER! I had to get my results from my radiology office where I had the mammogram done and they were appalled that I had not once heard from the doctor. I have worked in the medical field for 15 years and have never seen a doctor with a poorer bedside manner or concern for their patients. This was the last straw for me. I will be going elsewhere from now on. Don't settle like I did. I should have known better, but I will never go back there again.

Dr. Sanders is the perfect doctor that means business. She's really quick in her appointments and I always felt rushed. however when it came to my delivery and making quick decisions, I was glad she was there that day. For the day of my delivery quick decisions were made and perfectly executed on. Thank you for helping save my son's life

Dr. Sanders is professional, knowledgeable, and has great bedside manner. I have been seeing her for almost 10 years and highly recommend her as an OB GYN

Dr. Sanders talks down and is not very warm. The whole office speaks to the patient as if they are a bother. I suffer from migraines and already had a previous pregnancy with a healthy baby after using prescription migraine medication that my previous obgyn assured me was fine to use (and continually prescribed to me, I was in the hospital twice due to migraines with that one). This doctor gave me a refill, but after that I had a long phase of migraines and used it up in a short time. This concerned her. I had used it according to its dosage instructions, and I only used it at the onset of migraines but the problem is I was getting frequently. I think she felt I was using the medication more than necessary even though I don't know any dependency possibilities with the acetaminophen based butal. I told her I dislike taking any kinds of meds and that I used to take aspirin before any pregnancies bc that is the only medicine that helped me, but that I of course did not take aspirin during… previous nor current pregnancy nor previous nursing bc I care and want to avoid subjecting my baby to any medication. I told her that I only asked them for the refills bc my former obgyn felt fine overseeing my medications while I was pregnant. I had zero medication left, and she told me she would not prescribe me any. I cried so much on the spot bc I had already visited the ER on account of excruciating migraines, so to not have medicine to keep them at bay really was a scary thought. She demanded that I see a neurologist for my head pains. So I did see a neurologist of their preference and he prescribed codeine! I tried it once, and it was less effective than my normal medication. I read about codeine and how it can cause withdrawals to the baby! I voiced my concerns to Sanders and she flipped thru a book, said she felt ok about the drug even though any drug during pregnancy is not preferred. I told her I preferred to stick with what was already working well with my previous pregnancy. So I went to my own neurologist in manhattan who is a very well respected neurologist. He prescribed me more of my normal medicine and I was able to avoid codeine and avoid subjecting my baby to possible withdrawal issues. Wow. She started to get somewhat nicer towards the very end of pregnancy. Still she kept the visits extremely brief and she avoided asking how my migraines had been bc she wanted to pretend the issue never existed. A follow up visit after birth she did the usual push of birth control. As someone who had PCOS most of my life, I told her I do not put artifical hormones in my body. And I certainly don't want to take birth control while nursing. See? I simply am not a person who wants meds, only when very much warranted for extreme pain. She is beautiful on the outside, however, perhaps that is why she isn't warm bc she has probably always had that control over others. Oh and, the purpose of going to this office is bc they have 4 doctors which you meet throughout pregnancy, so the idea is that you will actually know the doctor who does your delivery. The day I went into labor, they told me none of them were on duty and they assured me the doctor on duty was a good doctor (that doctor was fine). I like the LIJ hospital bc it is new, clean, and you get your own room. But if I have any more children I will be worried even if I see a different practice, that I will get stuck with delivery from a doctor from this practice.

Very difficult to get appt. 2 other friends have also left this practice. I do not like to switch doctors and held out but due to difficulty and gatekeeping of front office staff with a "cant help, cant do" attitude I am forced to leave.

OVERALL EVERYONE WHO WORKS AT THIS OFFICE IS A PLEASURE TO BE AROUND. THEY ARE SO HELPFUL AND KIND
