Dr. Martha Erwin Golden, PhD

Martha helped me through some of the worst and best seasons of my life. She offered wisdom and listened so well. She gave me so many valuable tools for regulating my emotions and taught me skills that I will use for the rest of my life!

Martha helped me to work through acute depression related to the end of my marriage, and I still use the skills she taught me to live a fuller, happier life.

Martha Golden isn't the worst, but she's also not particularly great. She comes off as sweet--almost cloyingly so--but she doesn't like you asking about her credentials (her doctorate is from a for-profit university) or questioning anything she says. If you're seeking a sweet personality and don't care about knowing the rationale behind her recommendations, Martha might be a great fit. But for anyone seeking a provider who values critical thinking, reflection, and collaboration, I'd suggest going elsewhere. Her 'expertise' in DBT was, in my opinion, overblown. My current therapist is very skilled in DBT and doesn't feel the need to keep talking about her qualifications. Martha seemed to rest on her laurels and to struggle with being able to genuinely empathize.
