I have had lower back pain for the better part of the last 10 years after falling off a roof and playing sports at a very high level. I also work in sales and drive over 500 miles a week. I have gone through numerous MRI’s and Cat Scans and my degenerative disks along with a pars defect are only getting worse. Many doctors suggested I get surgery which I refuse to do base on the research I have done. As such, I have been seen by a pain management doctor for a long time at first in the North East and for the last year at Dr. Martin Hale’s office. In the North East, I tried physical therapy at multiple locations and they were all terrible. 15-30 minute long appointments where half the time was spent icing my back. The other half doing stretching that I could do at home. So when I move to Florida and started going to Dr. Hale’s office, I declined his offer to do PT at his office due to my past experience. After a few conversations I decided to give it a shot. That was the… best decision I could have done. I go once a week, I am seen by one of 2 EXCELLENT therapist for a full hour, sometimes longer and we do a variety of machine exercises, exercises with medicine ball, shock therapy, massage, some stretching that actually helps etc. This therapy has helped my lower back tremendously. Dr. Hale is an excellent doctor. He truly cares about his patients; he genuinely wants you to get better. He is a family man with 4 daughters, (I have 3 daughters) and so we talk about parenting, our kids etc. I read reviews that one can wait several hours before being seen by Dr. Hale. That has happened to me as well. However, the reason is because Dr. Hale cares about his patients and talks with them, offering different suggestion on how to get better, talking about family etc. He does at times takes important phone calls while in the room with you if it is an emergency because again, he cares. For PT, if your appointment is at 3pm, you will be seen right away at 3pm. Lastly, since Dr. Hale truly cares about his patients, if you are someone looking for a cocktail of pain medicine, anxiolytics and/or hypnotics to get high, go see someone else. If you truly need medication and are willing to try different ways to get better such as PT, massage therapy as well as changing your medication plan then Dr. Hale is the pain specialist to go to. I am not taking strong opiates and so in no way shape or form am I writing this review to continue to receive strong pain medication. (I have read bad reviews that some people write good reviews only to make the doctor happy in order to get their pain meds) I take muscle relaxers when needed as well as tramadol which is a schedule 4 drug, which works for me. I am not taking schedule 2 drugs like Vicodin, Percocet, oxycodone etc. I fully recommend Dr. Hale and his physical therapy team.

For years I stayed away from any pain management doctor... looking back I don't know why. My quality of life has improved.. my sleep is better. I don't know why the other patients aren't happy but I am. I do not exceed my medication, I am not 100% compliant I do try to not take my full prescription each month Dr. Hale is very supportive of this. I am happy and I tell everyone how happy I am. In fact people have noticed me being more active.

Dr Hale and his staff are incredible and are the most coordinated, knowledgeable team I have met led by Dr Hale who is brilliant. They drill down to unlock the reason for your pain by taking the time to look at the whole picture - MRIs, X-rays as well as the results of a physical exam and your reaction to PT , and they take the opposite common approach of other doctors who solely prescribe short term painkillers but do not figure out the cause of the pain.As an avid athlete who suddenly found myself with debilitating back and sciatic pain I flew all the way from Boston to Florida after having first seen world - renowned doctors at both the Baptist Hospital ( known for spine clinic) and Newton Wellesley Spine clinic. Dr. Hale immediately invested far more time on my case to identify the source of my excruciating back pain. After three days with Dr. Hale and is extraordinary PT team I left with knowledge of the root of my pain and a solid plan to follow in order to recover. This Doctor… is a must see for anyone in chronic or acute pain who wants answers .

Dr. Hale is wonderful. He listens to any and all new complaints and explains in a way that I can understand. I work for a doctor as well so I cannot always get out of work for my scheduled appointments. His staff has been so very helpful working with me. I thank Goodness everyday that there are still doctors as wonderful as he is.

I felt hopeless before meeting with dr. hale. he took time to consult my incoming issues/pains that were making my quality of life poor. he looks at each patient with an individual and open mind and commits to whatever time it will take resulting in you walking out of his office satisfied and hopeful that his regimen will be getting you on your path to not specifically recovery, but managing your pain safely in order to return to a life where you are no longer dreading the discomfort and discouragement living your every day life in suffering.

Yes the wait time is long on occasion, but Dr. Hale sees every patient personally. You will never see his P.A. Only on your appointment day. I have suffered severe pain both before and after my failed back surgery and Dr. Hale has been the only Dr. to treat me with dignity and respect and care that I am not suffering in pain daily. He actually listens to his patients and takes your care and comfort seriously. He does not hold back though and he tells it like it is at times, but it is for your own benefit. Dr. Hale is by far the most caring and compassionate Dr. that has treated me for my chronic and severe pain I have seen and there has been plenty in the past several years due to insurance changes and as my needs changed and lack of care. He has only been my doctor for a short time now but I am truly blessed to have been referred to him. Thank you Dr. Hale for your Compassion and much needed expertise.

Dr. hale may be a good doctor...BUT my experience has been so-so....and the wait in the office and in the room has been dismal...a 4 to 6 hour wait (my experience on the last two visits). Before that that the wait time was 3 hours to 4 hours...for a 2 minute consultation. NO, I would not recommend him because of this. It shows no respect for the patients. AND, he was not stuck at a hospital, etc....heard joking and talking to patients while waiting in the examination room! AWFUL!!

I am very pleased with the level of care I receive from Dr. Hale. I see him for pain management and was very reluctant at first when he said his "goal" was to get me to take less medication. I now see the POSITIVE results from doing just what Dr. Hale recommended. He worked with me AT MY PACE and I am happy to say I am doing quite well.

Dr. Hale takes the time to listen and provides excellent healthcare. A rare find these days.
