Dr. Martin O'Malley, MD

Dr O'Malley performed bunion surgery on my right foot about thirty years ago at age 45. The swelling in my foot didn't go down for nine months. When I went to his office to get my records, they had "lost" them. I consulted 3 other foot surgeons who could or would not tell me what had happened, as doctors do not like to rat out other doctors. Finally a podiatrist told me I had avascular necrosis and the bone died, and that I was left with hallux rigidus. I asked 2 medical malpractice lawyers about suing. They would not take the case, saying that lots can go wrong with foot surgery--- that the foot has more bones than the rest of the body! The patient seldom wins a malpractice suit for foot surgery. If you have foot problems, try going to a good pedorthist for special shoe inserts, special shoes, etc. Use surgery only as a last resort, especially if you have fibromyalgia, poor circulation, etc.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. O'Malley - my daughter saw 5 different doctors that could not give her a proper diagnosis. Within 10 minutes of him reviewing her MRI's and CT scans we found out she had torn ligament and a broken cuboid bone and this is why she has been in so much pain for the last 8 months. Not sure how the other 5 doctors missed this but going forward I will travel here again in a heartbeat. Thank God we came here.

Having been in a head-on collision in 1972 I've had MAJOR ongoing problems with both ankles, and if it weren't for Dr. O'Malley there's a good chance I wouldn't be walking. Where another recommended doctor told me he couldn't help, Dr. O'Malley performed his magic and I'm still rolling along; granted I'll never be a marathoner. On top of it all he's a good guy who I enjoy seeing, I can't say enough about him. Thanks Dr. O'Malley!

Sometimes things just don't go to plan, which is what happened to me. I spoke with another HSS surgeon who told me that Dr O'Malley is a good surgeon, but following his treatment of me post complications, I never want to see him or anyone in his office ever again.

Dr O’Malley is a great surgeon at a great hospital. You will not find better... I know you probably can’t run, but hobble quickly to see him. You won’t be sorry.

I think at this point in his career, Dr. O'Malley should limit his practice to high profile athletes because if you are not one, your calls are not returned, your appointments are canceled consistently, and every procedure with a follow through plan for surgery falls through. I do not doubt his expertise but being his patient becomes a very disheartening experience.

I can honestly say, Dr.O'Malley completely changed my life for the better. I was on crutches for years and now, I am, basically, crutch free. I truly appreciate his gentle bedside manner and empathy toward my situation. He was worth the wait!

I know Dr. O'Malley works on a lot of professional athletes but he never made me feel as if I was less important than his high profile clients. He is personable, knowledgable, and has alway made me feel like he genuinely cares about me and my recovery Yes, there is always a wait in his office but Dr. O'Malley is worth the wait.
