Dr. Jordan Daniel Metzl, MD

I wouldn't recommend him for ANY type of sports ailment. He completely missed the torn ligament in my ankle because he didn't think it was necessary to do an MRI. Further, he told me I could run on it. Each time I ran, I re-tore it. What could have been easily fixed is now requiring surgery.

He spent very little time with me during each visit (approx 5 mins per visit; 3 visits in total). He ordered an Xray but no MRI even though I asked about an MRI during each visit. He told me I could keep running after our 2nd visit. During my 3rd visit, even though I still had significant ankle pain, he said I had a weak ankle and ordered PT. After that visit, I found a new doctor who ordered an MRI that showed I tore the ligament. Each time I ran, I re-tore it. I do NOT recommend him.

Jordan metzl was horrible in my interaction with him. If you read reviews, you will see a theme. He spent most of my appointment discussing his background and having me watch a movie about him. He misdiagnosed me and almost caused very severe damage. Luckily this is a teaching hospital and a peer of his saw my x eat when reviewing cases and correctly diagnosed me. I then had emergency surgery. If up to Metzl, who knows what would have happened other than more videos about him and his practice. Please think twice before engaging with him, there are a lot of better options that actually care and will do a great job (or at least be correct).

Metzl is very very overhyped with his books and workout programs. Spent ten minutes and ordered an MRI where e forgot to mention in the report that the machine needed to be a 3T resolution! Also, confirmed that he totally misdiagnosed my back. Apparently the medical community is also Aware of his subpar practice with his one hour+ wait times. METZL EVEN ASKED FOR MY EMAIL ADDRESS TO SIGN UP FOR HIS WORKOUR PROGRAM- couldn't be more unprofessional.

Avoid! Don't be fooled by all of the glitz and glamour surrounding this guy. He should be a TV doctor or a coach.

Waited 1.5 hours. Showed no concern about my pain. Told me to read his book and take his class and equinox which I found inappropriate. Now emails me reminders to come to his book launch.

He misdiagnosed my teenage son- did not read xray accurately-- diagnosed him with condition he did not have and missed more serious condition which required surgery

Excellent sports medicine doctor, is a runner and triathlete, really knows his stuff.

Dr. Metzl's appointment scheduling is terrible. On each of several visits I waited over one hour from the scheduled time. He spends little time with patients, and alot of time telling patients to buy his book. I was in terrible pain and after 3 unsuccessful visits I asked him for a referral to a specialist at HSS. He disregarded my request and told me to take more anti-inflammatories. At the suggestion of a nurse, I saw an specialist-orthopedist affiliated with another hospital, received an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan.Dr. Metzl is a pleasant person, but his practice seems to be focused on hype, not treatment.

I saw Dr Metzl for a running injury. He diagnosed my problem when two other physicians had missed the diagnosis. He developed a careful plan to get me back to running and was always responsive to my questions. I ran the marathon this year and I couldn't have done it wihtout his help. I am truly a grateful patinet.
