Dr. Martina Stippler, MD

My wife has had a number of major issues in the cervical spine. Many “top-notch” Neuro surgeons have not only refused to treat her, some have refused to discus her condition, one actually walking in, stating “there is nothing I can do” and retreating As fast as he could. Dr Stippler sat and actually listened to our concerns and while she noted that surgery would be likely fatal, she offered some suggestions to add comfort and possibly years instead of weeks or months. While we didn’t hear what we wanted to hear, she had the decency and personal skills to hold a good conversation, not belittling us or glossing over the condition. I would, and have recommended her to friends and family that require a neurosurgeon.

I’m a disabled Veteran and Dr Stippler performed emergency surgery on me to repair a spinal fluid leak. I have never had a more caring and dedicated Dr in all my 20 plus surgeries.

Please seek second opinion. I can not comment on her surgical skills, however she lacked the humility and honesty one needs in a neurosurgeon.

Had a blown disc from work. I was scheduled to see another surgeon who’s receptionist rubbed me the wrong way. I was in immense pain and didn’t feel I was being taken seriously. My primary physician called Dr. Stippler and she was a blessing from day 1. She put mine and my wife’s mind at ease, answered all our questions and gave us the time we needed to ask questions. Beth Isreal was very attentive to every aspect of the surgery. They even made sure my wife stayed well informed during the surgery. The surgery couldn’t have gone better and it has been 4 years and I have been 100%. I can’t recommend her and her staff enough.

I thought I didn’t care about the bad office reviews, but it ended up being important. Insurance screw ups and not being able to reach anyone. It’s a month wait for surgery. They make patients feel insane and difficult if they don’t accept “we’re working on it. We can’t do anything else.” After weeks of the same line, their aggravation that you want to know what is going on, wear you out, especially when you’re injured, out of work, not sleeping, ect. My tip- follow up on anything they’ve said they did, call your insurance and check. Listen to yourself, they will confidently lie and make you feel nuts.

Probably an excellent surgeon but if she can't see a clear issue that can be fixed by surgery she is going to send you to the pain clinic. She is very direct about this.

They run everything and don’t care a bit what the surgeon says, insurance says, they are the worst of the worst. They could use their knowledge of how the system works to help people who are struggling instead of throwing out different answers when things fall through the cracks. If you are there just for a paycheck, find another line of work, this is too important. Go work at a bank. I don’t have advice for how to overcome this, maybe don’t leave the appointment without getting Dr. Stippler to help you secure a date? Maybe ask when to follow up if someone is out sick, this seems to be a running theme- out sick/vacation for days (40% of the time with me so far) and I’m told no one else can access the schedule.

I had a good visit with Dr. Stippler. She showed me the images and explained to me what I could expect from surgery. I understand now much better was it going on. I had the surgery and I am great ! only can recommend her
