Dr. Mary Anne Sanderson, MD

I have 4 kids; Dr. Sanderson has delivered 2 (only because the 1st was born in Iowa and the 4th came so fast she didn't have time to make it to the hospital) and was my OB for 3. I have read the reviews; I can say that while Dr. Sanderson can come across as abrupt, she was ALWAYS honest and forthright with me. When I was 8+ months pregnant with my second child, she told me if I went full term It was fairly likely I would have to have an emergency C-Section because there was some concern that the baby was getting too big. Not something you ever want to hear, but I was glad she told me rather than hiding it from me as a lot of doctors would. I had the baby a week later. Now that baby will be seeing Dr. Sanderson for her first gyn appointment. I can't think of a better recommendation.

This was my first visit. I came out feeling like crying. Her bedside manner is horrible and why I will be looking into drs who work with mind and body connections. It's not easy getting older and the 2 female physicians I have seen in this area must go to the same schools- cold and uncaring.

After reading the other comments and ratings and remembering my own experience I can agree and disagree on several points. I do think Dr. Sanderson has a very abrupt manner about her which makes her seem very unfriendly and mean, I had this opinion of her for most of my pregnancy but when I went into labor, she was there and she helped me through a horrendous labor. You can also tell a lot of people by how others talk about them and the nurses in the delivery room gushed about how wonderful and caring she is. I think her methods take some getting used to, by I would probably go to her again.

I went to see Dr. Sanderson about painful intercourse and failure to menstruate. The doctor was only with me long enough to do a very quick exam and tell me she didn't see anything wrong...maybe five minutes of her time. She seemed very unconcerned and uncaring. I left her office crying because I knew something was wrong with me and she didn't care to find out what.I made an appointment with someone else in her office. Holcolm the nurse practitioner, was amazing. She answered every question I had and set up an ultrasound for me. We found out I have PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome. I'm not happy about that diagnosis, but at least now I have answers and can get treatment.I'm glad I looked for a second opinion. I will never go back to Dr. Mary Sanderson.

I saw her with my third child and she hassled me every.single.visit about getting my tubes tied when I was "done with this one". In addition, she didn't seem to care one way or the other if I had any problems, questions, concerns...even though I'd already had two kids, it wasn't like I was a pro at it and I'd been having problems that she ultimately blew off. Never spent more than five minutes with her in the room, even in the first appointment and the last one. I spent more time with her in surgery for the actual C-section than any other time. Cold, unfeeling, horrid bedside manner. Her staff was very nice but Dr. Sanderson would've been a better surgeon than an OB/GYN.
