Dr. Maryna Skliut, MD

I don't know what these bad reviews are about. I've been her patient for over 5 years and she has been a life saver for me. Takes her time with me , had recommended the best Neurosurgeons and is an all around wonderful lady. I call her my fairy godmother as if it was not for her and her knowledge, honesty and compassion I would not have gotten through what I did these past years.

Dr. Skliut is no different from any other doctor in New York City, she will prescribe medications without having read your file from another doctor or hospital, she will only check your vitals, some coordination tests and you will end up with the same medications as before. One of the aims of medicine practice is to cure you and also to relieve you from the use of medications that will alter negatively your way of life. This relief will come with the use of alternative methods of healing such as therapy, diet, psychotherapy, and so on and so forth. Dr. Skliut won't give you more than the time dedicated for a visit and that's it. Seek elsewhere if you want to get rid off medications and have a more complete life. Between my arrival and my departure I spent 3 hours in that office for a 10 minute talk with her. What a waste of a whole afternoon.

I saw Dr. Skliut several times and kept thinking my experience would improve but aside from giving me pain meds she really didn't have anything useful to offer. She's not a particularly warm person and I even left the office crying after a visit. I recently switched to a new neurologist and I'm much happier. The new doctor actually explains things and takes the time to make sure I understand. My experience with Dr. Skliut was just awful and I would never refer any friends to her. Never.
