Dr. Matthew Wayne Brown, MD

I am very pleased with Dr. Brown and the OBGYN of Norwich. I had a hysterectomy and they walked me through the whole process, leading up to the surgery, during and following. I had an issue with the hospital to get clearance for the surgery due to low staffing and Danielle in the OBGYN office was amazing. She was helpful and compassionate. After the surgery Danielle was always very communicative when I called with questions about my recovery. I feel very well taken care of!

Just had my first visit with Dr. Brown and I found him to be very personable, soft spoken and easy to talk to, which made me relax. He explained everything in detail and he was very gentle doing my exam. He is not my regular Dr. but would absolutely go to him again and recommend him.

I went to Dr Brown for extreme chronic pelvic pain. I made it clear that I did not want a hysterectomy but was not concerned with my fertility. He took this as an opportunity to lecture me on how I don’t want a hysterectomy and will probably want kids some day anyway. He told me that all of my symptoms were a coincidence and I just needed to lose seventy pounds (it was not weight related). He was generally belittling and rude, from my fear of a painful exam to him saying that I didn’t know what my cervix was. I would warn other women against him.

I saw Dr. Brown once and it was the worst appointment I have ever had. He looked at his watch, looked around the room and honestly acted like me being there was an inconvenience for him. I told him my family history and how cancer runs in my family. He did a breast exam on me and found a lump. He told me it was most likely some fatty tissue and not to worry about anything. Didn't ask for any test to be ran or anything. Just scooted me out the door. A month later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I would never go to Dr. Brown again and if you care about yourself and your health don't go to him. He clearly doesn't listen and doesn't care. Save yourself.

Very rude. Disrespected FULLY. Called for medications for a cold two days in a row (excuuuuuse me) to double check and make sure I'm grabbing the right kind at the store. Get pushed off the phone, feel unwelcomed, terrible doctor. Never met him, NEVER want to. I will not EVER go back to Backus obgyn practices in Norwich ever again for my next pregnancys. I am too far along to get transferred to a different practice but just know my appt tomorrow there WILL be some words. DO NOT BE A DOCTOR IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT. I get told to "look at a panflet that I received when I was ,6 weeks pregnant I am now 30! What makes you think I still have it. I feel very unwelcomed and uncomfortable calling the hotline with a concern anymore.
