Dr. Matthew Joseph Cohen, MD

Cohen's actions are nonresponsive, reflecting his (and represents Kaiser Foundational Health Plan) deliberate indifference to disability discrimination and retaliation. The Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and the Permanente Medical Group (hereinafter Kaiser Permanente, as they are inextricably intertwined) are required by federal and state law, in addition to the Metzler v. Kaiser Settlement Agreement (2001), to eradicate pervasive disability discrimination and retaliation against disabled patients and their advocates. As a patient, Dr. Cohen has allowed me (a patient) to be abruptly stop psychotherapy treatment and to be "patient dumped" (much like they do with skid row, which is publiscized in the paper and posted on the internet) by my therapist. Your therapist is the person with whom you need to be honest, the one with whom you will share some of your darkest secrets, your fears, and your dreams. I did exactly that, and then Dr. Cohen takes my therapist right out from under me, with… no notice or explanation. I have requested an explanation from Dr. Cohen numerouse times through e-mail and phone and fails to return any of my messages to address my concerns. Dr. Cohen also allows my psychiatrist to treat me with psychiatric meds that my body has a severe reaction to. I am given a choice to take a med that I am alergic to or "if a crisess occurs, go to the ER" Dr. Cohen fails to address his doctors on their treatment plan and ask them how the doctor tends to justify it. Even when Dr. Cohen gets direct communication from the patient who is screaming out for help. For a psychiatrist who has almost 50 years experience, Dr. Cohen shows 0% of competency.
