Dr. Matthew F Kalady, MD

No bedside manner, fat shamer when he is very obese himself.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kalady since 2012. I have had several surgeons in my life and he is, by far, the most kind and down to earth surgeon I have ever met. On top of that, he's really good at what he does. He has an amazing "calm" to him that really helps when you're facing major surgery. I was also impressed when I brought up an experimental surgery that I had researched to his attention. It isn't something he has done as it is still in trials. Instead of shooting my idea down (as has happened to me with other doctors in the past), he encouraged it and said he's always looking for new and innovative ways to help people. He said if there was a clinical trial in our area, he would try to get me into it! Dr. Kalady is the real deal. In addition, his assistant, Gina, is amazing as well! I love her snarky personality and she really cares about helping Dr. Kalady's patients - as much as he cares for his patients. You're in good hands with this team.

My husband and two of my children have FAP, a hereditary cancer syndrome that carries a 100% risk of colon cancer and ultimately requires the removal of the colon. After talking with several doctors and surgeons, we nervously decided to pick Dr. Kalady for the screening and care of our family in 2011. We could not be happier with our son's surgery (2013) and the ongoing surveillance Dr. Kalady and his team have provided every year. We have talked to several doctors around the country for this disease and none are as caring, thorough and knowledgable as the team at Cleveland Clinic. Best decision ever - worth all the travel and insurance hassles we face year after year.
