Helped me with my back problems and explained everything that was going on with my back. Showed me all my results and what he could do for me. Did my surgery to fix my back and now I am pain free. Would recommend Dr. Wasserman to anyone.!

Dr.Wassermann was very attentive and showed great concern with my herniated disc that I have. Dr. Wassermann stated surgery would not be his first choice . He did recommend other alternative. I will always have great respect for him! Dr. Wassermann is a great physician !

I saw Dr Wasserman 3 days after I experienced a severely herniated disc in my lower back. My pain was so intense that I had to use a wheelchair. His PA did a quick exam with several tests to determine severity of condition and current neurological function, but did not explain what he was doing or the results. Dr Wasserman spent less than 5 minutes with me, and did not touch me at all. He referred me for an MRI (which was appropriate). The MRI revealed a very large disc herniation in my lower back. Dr Wasserman met with me for about 3 minutes to discuss the treatment options — he did mention that I could try rest and time, but pushed hard for surgery “because he is a surgeon.” He also insisted that conservative treatment (rest) “not fix anything.”I then consulted with another orthopedic spinal surgeon who recommended trying conservative treatment because 95% of people recover completely on their own with rest. I explsined the very physical nature of my job (veterinarian), and… explained that much of my job included lifting and restraining 50 lb dogs, and being on my feet 12 hours a day. He agreed that I needed st least 4-6 weeks off, and specifically said he would be willing to sign a disability form for me. Today I received a call from his nurse telling me that he hasd not noted that conversation in his chart so she could not submit my firm. When I told her about his agreement, she informed me that he won’t sign disability forms unless I have surgery, and that he believes non-surgical patients can return to work in 7 days ‘because they can’t be that painful.” To sum up; no physical exam, pushes hard for surgery without discussing success rate of non-surgical treatment, and refuses to sign disability forms unless you agree to surgery. He is unethical and unkind. Stay far away from this man!

horrible doctor

The UT group used to be a more compassionate group. However, it seems ever since they've grown, they do not have time for follow up care. I was on my own for pain management instructions. It was awful! Dr. Wasserman is an excellent physician. But, the once the surgery is done. He is done with you.

My husband has DDD and was told that there was nothing that could be done for him besides pain management. He refused to do that so he was taking anti-inflammatories periodically that Dr. Wasserman had given him a while back. Well, he has since run out of the anti-inflammatories and is in pain. He called the doctors office to get a refill and was told that he needed to make an appt before they could refill his prescription. My husband is in the oil and gas industry and has 2 projects currently where he cannot take any time off and has to work 7 days a week to complete his work so he just decided to live with the pain until he can go. After seeing him in constant pain for over a week, I decided to call Dr. Wasserman's office to see they could call in a prescription for 20 anti inflammatories, enough to get him through 2-1/2 weeks until he could take a day off if we made an appt for 2 weeks away. They refused. I asked if I could leave a message for Dr. Wasserman and was told that they… cannot take any messages for him unless the patient has been seen in the last 3 months. This is ridiculous that a former patient cannot get hold of his doctor unless seen in the last 3 months. This is the same doctor's office that prescribed a topical anti inflammatory that didn't work but kept sending it over and over after we cancelled it and it all made sense when we found out that the topical cost $7000 per shipment. This office is all about the $ and not about patient care. Will be looking for another doctor.

Went in with back pain and MRI results and films. Report from radiologist detailed torn discs. He wouldn't listen to what my symptoms were, just told me that I didn't have anything wrong with me. Recommended I see their in-house pain managment physician but ended with "he probably won't be able to do anything for you either, since there is nothing wrong". He did admit that several discs were bulging but again told me that I wasn't in any pain. Did not make appointment with other doctor as he has terrible reviews.

very pleased with all office staff and doctor Wasserman. He is treating me for a complex back problem and I have seen significant improvement since surgery.

Ordered wrong tests...won't refill pain meds without additional scheduled appts.
