Dr. Matthew C Werthammer, MD

I actually saw Dr Werthammer during my initial consult with him several years ago. However, multiple subsequent visits later I have only been seen only by a nurse practitioner (NP) who was very nice, but not a neurosurgeon. The NP did not have the knowledge base or expertise of a neurosurgeon or neurologist. I am a specialized M.D. which she was aware. She kept going back to discuss my case with Werthammer (who was in clinic). Upon her return she informed me that I will need more complicated surgical intervention without much discussion. Werthammer never saw me for exam or clearer explanation for proposed surgery. No review of MRI study. NP ordered other XRAY studies for that same day. I have not received any feedback regarding results of XRAY STUDIES going on week two. Werthammer should have had the courtesy to directly interact with me for at least a few minutes of his valuable time. Nonprofessional behavior on his part. I wasted an entire afternoon on this visit.

Never again will I see him,very rude,poor bedside manners,spent 5 min in office visit,rushed me out,still having terrible issue after surgery and he wouldn’t see me anymore,I’ve never been to a dr that treated me the way he did,I wouldn’t ever recommend him to anyone

Dr. Werthammer was my daughter's neurosurgeon following a serious car accident. He was amazing. Wonderful bedside manner and an excellent doctor. He saved my daughter's life and gave her a chance of full recovery. I will forever be grateful.

He made me feel very comfortable. He told me of several choices that I had with my problem. He told me he would contact my doctor that referred me to him and also my family doctor, so both would know what was going on. It was nice to find out that I had a choice. I really feel lucky to have met Dr. W. and I would tell anyone that I am sure he would and does give his best to each and everyone one of his patients. Dr. W., I am glad to be one of your patients. Thanks for all that you do.

Had my second surgery with Dr Werthammer he seemed very nice. Talked me into having the second procedure even though I just wanted to try pain management. He did my surgery and that's was the last I saw of him until my six week follow up. He never came to check on me before they discharged me at all. And at my six weeks follow up I told him I was still having issues that I was still in as much pain as I was before surgery and his answer to me was the goal of back surgery is not to take away my pain but to take pressure off my nerve so my leg would quit going numb so by all means my surgery was a success and to go and be young and weigh 130 pounds. I have gotten the run around from his nurse and from the office staff. He never scheduled me anymore follow up appointments and when I tried to get in because I'm in a great deal of pain I was told I had to have an MRI? And I just had surgery less than six months before. So I got a referral and paid to have an MRI only then to be told the… day before my appointment that they could not see me because I still owed$200.00 and it had to be paid off before I could come in. So a doctors copay and money for an MRI and I still have not had anymore help from him. Im pretty much in pain 24/7. I Have to pretty much pull myself up out of bed every morning and cry just getting up and moving in the mornings. Just in disbelief that this doctor and his office have treated me this way.

Dr. Werthammer is a wonderful surgeon. He performed my back surgery in 2012, and my pain was relieved. I could walk immediately and can walk now. I would highly recommend this compassionate doctor! I thank God for him!

went to him for a ruptured disc in neck . Spent about 5 min in office and told me to do neck exerxises and losing weight would help. Charged 200 some dollars for 5 min. Never again! Did my husband the same way and he has since had two back surgeries with another dr.

Dr werthammer performed a craniotomy after I had a ruptured aneurysym almost 4 yrs ago. He saved my life,very professional and best neurosurgeon.Thank you for saving my life!

I was having extraordinary pain and numbness in my left leg that interfered with walking before Dr. Werthammer performed spinal fusion on my lower back. My pain was totally relieved as soon as I woke up from surgery and the numbness subsided a few days later. I am now back to enjoying life, playing golf and doing what I loved prior to acquiring this problem. Dr. Werthammer was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and obviously very skilled at his craft. I have and will continue to recommend him to all that have similar problems. The pre-op back surgery class that was provided was also exceptionally helpful and informative to help me prepare for and recover properly from this surgery. Would award him more than 4 stars if that were possible.
