Dr. Meena Wilson Shatby

I was so impressed with Dr. Shatby when he performed Achilles tendon surgery on me four years ago that I am once again under his excellent care for severe arthritis in my knees. Dr. Shatby is first of all an extraordinary surgeon, completely informed, extremely capable, and incredibly caring. His staff, from start to finish, is competent and efficient, and also very caring – a very rare find these days. Dr. Shatby, because of his expertise, is indeed in high demand, so he does not waste time, yet will spend as much time with the patient as he or she needs, answering any and all questions. Note: I always record my sessions with the doctor in case I forget something from the wealth of information he typically divulges. I highly recommend Dr. Shatby (and his staff) to anyone looking for an orthopedic surgeon.

I've been seeing Dr. Shatby for almost a decade. He has done three surgeries on me, one on my mother, and countless injections for both of us. We both have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which is not a very easy condition to treat. His work is clean, thorough, and effective. He listens to his patients, and he doesn't try to push surgery unless it's absolutely necessary as well. He's a great doctor. I highly recommend him!

Dr Shatby is a great surgeon but his office staff needs training on how to treat a patient. Elizabeth is the only one that is exceptional and has great bedside manners. I've been a patient for years until today because it seems like Everytime You Go you're on assembly line, and all they want to do is move you in and move you out. Stacy is very unprofessional with patients and has no bedside manners. A doctor is only as good as his office staff.

Dr. Shatby is a gifted surgeon with impressive credentials and is much in demand. Be prepared for your appointment. I had a typed and formatted paper of my diagnoses, medications, allergies, and physicians ready to hand to him. I recorded our appointment, which he did not mind in the least. Most importantly, any questions I had for him I also had typed and ready to hand to him, and had phrased the questions as specifically as possible. He gladly answered every one of them in detail. His demeanor is matter-of-fact and to the point, while still exuding sympathy and awareness of the impact of a troubling diagnosis. I have great confidence in him.

Had a horrible dislocation with multi-fractures to left ankle. Was sent by Hermann ER to follow-up initial - surgery and follow-up post surgical. Very knowledgeable and professional. Husband will be having initial visit this next week.

The operation was ok and he did a thorough exam. Afterward the pain was horrific and I called on a fri morning explaining I needed a pain refill for the weekend (7 days post op) and I thought it was red and swelling. Eight hours later the nurse called back and said take otc meds and call on Monday. I was crying in so much pain I went to the ER. - infection! 12 hours after the antibiotic it was sooooo much better. I feel like he should have asked the logical question---why is there so much pain. What is the cause??? He should have had me come in - during the 8 hrs I waited crying in pain...to be brushed off at 530 on Friday. The pocket of fluid under the incision was swelling and pushing up like it was going to pop the stitches. I sent a pic to another doc who said ER- right away! Thank god I listened. This was the worst pain I have ever experienced and I felt like he was completely dismissive rather than seeking the medical answer---what is making her pain so bad? (I think… btw his nurse really tried to tell him how bad I was suffering!!). Just glad for the ER doc ... Relief was amazing with the antibiotic!!!

Dr. Shatby came highly recommended to us by a friend at church. He is a great guy and was a very patient doctor who spent time explaining things to us in a way we could understand. We had to pay cash for our appointments and for the surgery and Dr. Shatby was very flexible with us. I highly recommend him for foot/ankle injuries!!!!

Dr. Shatby always has the time to listen to you. Great personality and a gentleman. I know sometimes I have to wait but I tried other doctor for my problems and he has the best options, always tried to avoid the surgery. I really respect him

I play college soccer and Dr. Shatby has treated throughout my high school and college career. He has always tried his very best to get me healthy as quick as he can to get me back on the field. He always tries other natural options to avoid surgery when he can. He always listens and is very understanding. I wouldn't let anyone else treat me but him. I am pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery because of him. He is a great doctor!

Dr Shatby has just become board certified, and he is an excellent doctor.
