Dr. Melanie Anne Chesson, MD

Dr Sullivan is a kind, compassionate, empathatic, personable knowledgeable individual. She takes the time to describe your diagnosis and the tests being administered in layman’s terms. As a hospitalist, she is unique in that she comes by your room a few times a day. Very unusual in the hospital setting. Her expertise in various areas is helpful. She communicates often with other staff members. She is willing to go the extra mile for her patients.

I asked for copies of my medical records after being treated at Duke Raleigh in 2015. This doc stated that she explained to me my treatment options and treatment plan before she discharged me to another area hospital. She did not. I never saw her during my entire hospital stay. My discharge summary was written by a PA, and no one took the time to explain my medical condition or treatment options to me, my spouse or my HCPOA. She basically wrote into record that she spent 45 minutes providing care when she did not. I have yet to meet Dr Sullivan. I wrote to her but received no response. Would not recommend her on ethical grounds.
