Dr. Melissa Lynn Hawkins-Holt, MD

Our experience with this physician was very bad.She misdiagnosed my daughter and put her on unnecessary medication.When her symptoms didn’t resolve she did not do what a competent physician would do namely investigate thoroughly, instead told me to get my child a psychiatric evaluation.She does not have any scientific curiosity or empathy towards her patient.Besides she was very unprofessional and bullied me on the phone stating that I was “ enabling” my daughter’s behavior.She could not give me even one helpful suggestion to keep my daughter comfortable.She expects her patients’ bodies to behave like text book cases.I would not recommend her especially if you have teens or tweens.

I have been seeing Dr. Hawkins- Holt for going on 10 years. I was originally referred to her after being dx with Fibromyalgia and later several bouts with arthritis. She is only 1 of 3 drs. I trust enough to give me injections. I have actually asked for cortisone injections in my knees, my flu and pneumonia shots, and even asked for blood work to be done there, all because I have a severe needle phobia, and what they call "White Coat Syndrome". In other words, I"m afraid of docs. I have now moved and travel almost 2 hrs to keep an appt., and I do. I am privileged to say that Dr. H rates very high on my trust and care scale. She is caring, compassionate, competent, knowledgeable, and gives you the time you need to talk to her. Her office staff is very busy, but somehow they keep the office running and efficiently so. Her Medical Asst. has been a blessing to me many times when I forget to call in my refills, and while they really have 24 hrs. to complete the process, she's done… it in 2. So...if you need a rheumy, pick Dr. Melissa Hawkins-Holt. I realize that everyone has different experiences, but I don't think you will be disappointed. :)

Dr, Hawkins-Holt is the most amazing doctor. She is both knowledgeable and personable. A professional in every sense of the word. She has does wonders with my medication regime and I am pleased to report I am mobile and active. I highly recommend this physician.

I have had Dr. Melissa Hawkins-Holt since she went to work at the practice of Dr. Gertler and Dr. George. I find her a wonderful person and Dr.. With all my different medical problems I have even considered having her as my Primary Dr.. She takes the time to listen, not judge, then she will ask her questions. One thing she does not do, is to tell you what you are feeling and not hear what you have said to her, not like some Drs. I have had. I would recommend her and have to anyone in need of a terrific Dr.

Dr. Holt is patience and easy to work with. I am a difficult patient as I am allergic to so many medications that it is hard to decide what to do to help me. Unlike so many other doctors that don't want to understand my allergies she is very patience with them and tries to work with what works with me not what work for her.

Mr. Hawkins Holt was extremely competent and her bedside manner was exceptional. She gave me a difficult and unpleasant diagnosis and handled my response with grace and dignity. She even gave me a hug. Her treatment options were well explained and she followed up with a phone call promptly with an answer to a question that I had. I would not hesitate to recommend her.
