Dr. Melissa Rae Kaufman, MD

Dr. Kaufman is excellent. I felt the catheter go in but no real pain. Procedure completed in less than 5 minutes.

Implanted a sacral nerve simulator despite physiological confirmation of my need for it. Will be having it removed by someone else.

I have been seeing Dr. Kaufman for several Years and I am a 62 year old male. She is the most caring Doctor that I have ever been to. I not sure about seeing a Female Urologist but when I first had an appointment with her I didn't know any different. She has operated on me and treated me with other problems that I have. So I just want to thank her for being her.

When a doctor tells you they don't believe anyone, heads up. They don't believe you, or any other doctor. How do you even work as a doctor with your nursing staff if you trust noone? Horrible experience, worst bedside manners ever.

Most of my concerns were summarily dismissed, I was told to basically suck it up with concerns about my urological issues, and that it "Sucks getting old" in regard to my chronic pain issues. If you want a doctor very dismissive of your concerns, even if you are 'complicated', go to her. If you want actual help, go somewhere else.

This Dr told me she would help me with my problem and be there with me all the way from day one to the end to fix this. I was in so much pain and she was so empathetic I thought and I believed her I fell for it.. she told me what she would do, then when it came down to it it didn’t get done.. and then She would tell me one thing about my operation that it wasn’t as bad as she thought it was going to be, then later on before my next one she would say oh but ur last one was bad and this could happen to u.. wait u said after surgery everything went great and it wasn’t as bad as u r saying it was now.. which is it?? I’m confused?? Ugh.. then notations in my charts not right and not getting my history correct.. oh so not good.. No ty not interested on u cutting on me or lying about me anymore I have made my calls to the appropriate people and ur on notice. I give people chances plenty of them but after the first time my OCP told me that this Dr needed to finish what she started even… against my better judgement on my last surgery. Sigh I wish I would have just listened to myself and fired both of them at that time.. People always listen to yourself, you know your body better than any Dr does. Don’t settle for less than or minimal care, you deserve to be treated well and right and with respect and dignity and you have a right to have your voice to be heard.

I have experience with several urologists in Nashville and Dr. Kaufman ranks at the top. She ordered tests that my two previous urologists should have ordered and determined my problem without doubt. Although I was a complicated patient, she was compassionate and kind and very professional. She even allowed me to take earlier appointments when openings appeared which meant so much. I have a serious procedure coming and I trust her to handle the matter well.

Dr Kaufman has a sweet personality and an excellent doctor too I feel comfortable going to her and she also has the best interest in her patients.

It was my first visit yesterday...I am a 25 year old female suffering with MS and bladder problems which were still not sure about. I'm having incontinence problems, she put me on meds. Voiding problems, now I have to self cath. Urgency problems. Mixture of everything, hectic. A male doctor talked to me a first, he was very nice. They put they're heads together and want to do a study test on me to see exactly what my bladder is doing! Anyway, Dr. Kaufman is very cool. She sat down and talked to me on my level being that I'm so young. She listened to everything I had to say and explained why my muscles are doing what they are doing because of my MS and spine! The nurse that came in to help me self cath was amazing! Bless her heart...we struck gold. Its definitely going to be a long road ahead for me but I'll make it. I highly recommend her!!
