Dr. Melissa Welch Smith, MD

I was a new patient, and in my earlier weeks of pregnancy so I was unsure how my experience would turn out. In my 6th week I began having some complications. I called in spoke with her Nurse Hayley and was scheduled to come in the following morning. Getting taken right back to a room her nurse asked several questions seemingly genuinely concerned. Dr. Smith came in very fast was warm and friendly walking me through her actions then explaining options and course of actions. Unfortunately I was having a miscarriage. I feel Dr. Smith was very thorough and amazing. She comforted me like a friend and gave me advice of a doctor for my future decisions. I would highly recommend her to anyone. My Fiance and I are very greatful and pleased for Dr. Smith and her staff.

I have been with her over 8 years and I can not complain about 1 thing. She is so understanding, concerning and has done an amazing job through both of my births. I would definitely recommend her to everyone. Her work speaks for itself .

Dr Smith is unprofessional. She has done many things that are embarrassing to the health care profession such as drinking and performing a “pee train” with certain nurses on the Labor and Delivery unit. She does not deserve to be a physician in our community. Her demeanor with staff is of being in college. She hasn’t grown up. She is typical Pearl River trash.

Dr. Smith is friendly and cares about her patients, now making an appointment is the hard part and waiting time is horrible.

She delivered my 4th child who was an high risk pregnancy her and Dr Clavin!!! I swear that I love those two ladies they are the best!!! I highly recommend !!!

I like Dr. Smith. I do not like that the staff has this I don't care attitude about patients. I have felt real uncomfortable the last few times I have visited the office. Especially the Lady who schedules appointment before exiting. She has a bad attitude and very condescending. I do not like that fact that I had to pay 25.00 for the nurse to fill out a FMLA form. After all of the charges I have to pay already. Not happy about this office and will probably look for a new ob after I have my baby.

I came across this page looking for a female gyno. I am a patient of Dr. Clavin but have grown tired of the abrupt and unfriendly atmosphere. I don't think it has anything to do with race, insurance, etc. I am white and have insurance.. I think they are just rude. Seems to be a trend in healthcare lately

Truth be told, I got the feeling that Dr.Smith is an inexperienced neophyte OB/GYN doctor who lacks the important quality of exhibiting concern and care for a patient. During my visit she was very brief with me. And the billing clerk Julie is so unprofessional.

I have Blue cross but I quickly realized that in this doctor's office your insurance predicates the reception and care delivered. It's prejudiced and there was this apparent misconception that being black translates to Medicare/Medicaid. The doctor herself was brief, talking and typing. One wonders if she is attentive to your concerns. For me, I immediately got the feeling beyond the charade that she prolly don't give a crap about my bouts with emesis, loss of appetite and pelvic discomforts. Each time she turned around, she gave this half-grin. I'm definitely not having her deliver my baby.

Absolutely busy, so visits are cramped. She talks with you for about 10 minutes and off to the next patient.
