Dr. Michael Bernard, MD

Dr Bernard and his office is a huge ripoff. I went to him for a few years just because I had been using him for a while. The final battle was I went to him with a tooth ache that turned out to be a tooth that needed to be pulled. Well the crook would not pull the tooth until he did a complete cleaning of my teeth. The bill was supposed to be over $2000.00 of work he had to do they said. So then I went somewhere else, that my granddaughter and grandson had been using. The new dentist said to get my X Rays from Dr. Bernard since I paid for the exam and all of the X Rays. First Dr. Bernard refuse to give them up because I was seeing a different dentist. Then he said give me $100.00 and I will give them to you. I told him I paid for them already and my new dentist said they are mine. Well he answered me, well that's just to bad, You went elsewhere and I don't have to give you "sh#t".. He actually cursed at me. I am a 65 year old female, totally still with it but no doctor has the right to… talk like that to anyone. And guess what? My new dentist gave me a cleaning and pulled the two teeth and my bill was only $460.00!! Trust me go elsewhere, you will have very strange visits where they will constantly try to sell you more work. And the pricing you are getting is way out of line. Go elsewhere and see for yourself the huge price difference any other dentist would charge. And good luck getting your X Rays! This is not the way a doctors office of any kind should operate.

Having seen Dr. Bernard on the "Dr. Bob Show," I thought I'd give him a try. But what I discovered is that he's nothing more than a "Checklist Doctor": when did you have your last pap smear? mammography? colonoscopy? That's all he did--ask me questions that he could check off on a sheet. Never once did he ask me how I felt. It turned out that my blood glucose was too high, and he sent me off to a specialist for that. In my opinion, Dr. Bernard is useless unless a patient is too ignorant to know the standard checklist of recommended health tests. NOTE: One of his staff members has a BIble verse posted where patients can see it. When I pointed out to her that non-Christians might feel uncomfortable having to read a Bible verse (Buddhists, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, etc.), she said, "Nobody's ever said anything." I responded, "I'm saying something now." I made a formal complaint about the Bible verse to the supervisor, but my guess is that it's still there on the wall for all patients… to see. A DOCTOR'S OFFICE SHOULD NOT RESEMBLE A CHURCH, EVEN IN EAST TENNESSEE.

I've been a patient of Dr. Bernards for about 20 years now and have to say that he is a wonderful and caring doctor. Always willing to listen to me and gives great care. His staff is wonderful as well. I was reading through the other comments and see some very negative comments in 2009. Dr. Bernard was going through some tough times then and that may be the reason he came across as flippant and uncaring. Not and excuse for him, only an explanation. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Bernard is a fabulous doctor. I have been seeing him on and off for over a year. I met him through my best friend. I am one of the millions of Americans, that does not have insurance, and Dr. Bernard and his staff have been a lifesaver for me. Being a holistic practitioner, the thought of having a doctor to "hear", what I was saying, was a challenge. However, Dr. Bernard truly listens, does not criticize, and spends total time with you. I would not mind waiting one hour to see him, knowing that if needed...he would spend that amount of time talking with me.I have yet to wait for more than 25 minutes to see him, and to me...it shows me that he cares about "ALL" his patients. His bedside manners are top of the line. He is funny, direct, caring and sincere. I was blessed to have met him, and I tell all my family, friends, and clients about him. Thank you Dr. Bernard, and your staff for having such a caring spirit for your patients.Warmest Regards
