Summary
Dr. Blefeld was born and raised in Cedarhurst, NY and went to St. Lawrence University for his bachelor's in science as a biology major. Dr. Blefeld met his wife at St. Lawrence. Prior to medical school Dr. Blefeld went to the University of Cincinnati Children's Hospital initially to pursue a Ph.D. in developmental biology. Rather than complete this, Dr. Blefeld went on to medical school and graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago. Then he went on to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY where his wife was raised and completed his pediatric training. After working 9 months in a practice in Binghamton, NY, Dr. Blefeld moved his family to the shoreline of Connecticut. He opened his own office in Groton, Gold Star Pediatrics, 30 years ago.
