Dr. Michael Warren Carlton, MD

A former patient. He was always late. Took about a month to fill out simple insurance forms. Glad I started seeing someone else.

Dr. Carlton is very thorough and is a great doctor. I agree that the posts here that are negative came from addicts that did not get what they wanted or got meds they wanted and later decided they were an issue. Guess what? That is NOT the doctors fault. Take some personal responsibility here. Anyway, I had an excellent experience with Dr. Carlton. He was caring, thorough and even though he is a democrat, he is still a solid medical doctor.

This individual was hired on at Gatehouse Academy to oversee the detoxification of hundreds of clients over a 5 year period at the ranch campus. Turns out the facility was operating outside of their license. DR Carlton failed to double check and see if the facility was even allowed to offer the type of services he was supposedly making available. This lack of oversight lead to the closure of the Gatehouse Academy ranch and is the last documented violation for that campus. DR Carlton was advertised as offering comprehensive detoxification services for this facility. He failed to provide these services instead opting to loosely over prescribe Suboxone through Skype video conferences. This resulted in dozens of clients kicking sedatives cold turkey without any real medical oversight thus putting them at a serious risk. The AZ DOH did an inspection declaring the fact that any type of detoxification services were strictly prohibited without medical oversight and a basic license. In the… end the company closed after the CEO was convicted of fraud and laundering money through the facility. Negative experience to say the least.

Basically this sums it up: If you're an addict and want to stay addicted then go see Dr. Carlton. If you're and addict and want to be free of dependency then I suggest you look elsewhere. Most Suboxone Dr.'s don't start you out at 32mg's even if you're spending thousands of dollars a day on heroin or oxycontin. The most they should be giving you is 8mg's. Unfortunately I am just learning this fact now. He started me out at 32mg's a day and after nearly 2 years of weaning myself down to 2mg's a day, he decided it's time I start coming in every 2 weeks. I had been coming in every 2 months, but apparently I was way too close to getting off the stuff altogether. So he decided that adding a little more stress to my life would be helpful to my "recovery". I guess he also decided that he needed to drain my bank acct. as much as possible before I got off the suboxone and didn't need him anymore. I wasn't even drug tested in the first place! Just came in, said I was an addict, and voila I… get prescribed 32mg's a day!! I think he needs to just keep to his scam artistry a.k.a. "cool sculpting" and maybe stop screwing up the already screwed up lives of drug addicts. I assume that many of the addicts start their addictions right there at his office. Considering the fact that the only people that see him are people that A. Want suboxone or B. Want Oxy, Morphine, Methadone, Soma, Diazepam, etc... Please do yourself a favor and avoid this quack.

He will get you so addicted to oxycodone and then boot you out of his practice for no apparent reason. Without explanation either. In hopes u will end up in his rehab. I was cut off cold turkey. But I have multiple health problems & need to be on pain meds. But I refused to go to detox, because I am not a drug addict . I'm a very sick woman that did not need to be put on that much pain medicine at all. But I trusted my doctor, so I did it anyways. But u see the difference between me & someone just looking to get high, is that I'm stone cold sober. Now I hurt 24 hrs a day. I have a hard time sleeping now too where before when I was on all those meds that's all I wanted to do was sleep. Now I have the problem of finding a new real pain management doctor. It's really sad that a doctor someone you are suppose you can trust ,would screw you up like that. But Dr. Michael Carlton did. Now I can't get them to send any of my records to my new Primary Care from the last 10+ years ago. So… now they have no way to know what has gone on with me over all these years. Well except for what I tell them of course. By the way I could tell them exactly what's happened except I can't prove it without my records. No I could pay the $500.00 they asked for & get all my records, except I CAN'T AFFORD THAT & MOST OTHER PEOPLE CAN'T EITHER I'M SURE !!!! Am I a little PO'ed? YOU BET!!

Understand that most of the negative reviews are from addicts who do not get what they want. To get value from seeing an addiction doctor, you must be ready to change. If you are ready, he is great. If you fight his treatment plan, you will be unhappy. As a primary care physician, he is very thorough, caring and thoughtful. I'm a happy patient. Yes, sometimes he runs behind but he never cheats you on your time. And the staff is fabulous! The team in place now is the best it's ever been.

This Doctor rates poor, at best. He is out for the $$$$$. Don't see him.

Excellent PCP and chronic pain management for one who takes responsibility for doing what I can to manage conditions on my own: exercise, stress reduction, lifestyle choices. Teenage daughter loves him too.

Arrogant and cocky physician with no personal skills. Worst physician that I've ever seen.
