Our son (14) dislocated his knee. When it relocated on its own a small piece of bone and cartilage broke from his femur. Dr. Chui recommended a complicated surgery that was not medically proven necessary and was declined by our insurance. Dr. Chui was unwilling to discuss alternative care. As a result our son's care was halted for two weeks. We were forced to seek care elsewhere.

Condescending, elitist attitude. Dismissive about symptoms

I tore my shoulder during football season, and felt severe pain before the surgery. After visiting Dr. Chiu I knew I found the right doctor. The surgery went very well, and post 6 months my shoulder is feeling the best it has in a very long time.

Dr Michael Chiu has a great personality and is a top surgeon! I wanted to pick the best for my daughter and he did surgery to repair her shoulder due to recurring dislocations, and now I personally know why his patients rave about him! He uses the latest minimally invasive techniques, and he also takes care of sports teams and professional athletes.   I’m a physical therapist and have seen his postop patients, minimal to no pain, quicker recovery, and excellent outcomes. The day of our appointment, he was very busy, but we didn’t feel rushed by him. Dr Chiu reviewed the MRI, explained things well, answered all our questions, and showed us animated videos of the procedure.   The day of surgery everything went as planned. He spoke to us and showed me pictures while she was in recovery, and that put me at ease. My daughter now has full range of motion, no more dislocations and is back to the gym and work, while never complaining of pain. Couldn’t be happier with her recovery and our… experience with Dr Chiu! I knew she was in good hands with him and I highly recommend him to my friends, family and patients!

Couldn’t have asked for a better doctor! My 11 year old son hurt his knee playing basketball and Dr. Chiu came highly recommended. Illinois bone and joint is one of the best practices around! The doctors are amazing. My whole family has now seen Dr.Chiu for different and recent injuries. He's a amazing doctor! He's straight forward and to the point. He's good at what he specializes in and loves what he does which makes him a even better doctor and person. He's very professional and down to earth.
